Overview
The Jainnher JHP-3506CNC is a CNC plunge cylindrical grinder with 350 mm (13.8 in) of swing and 600 mm (23.6 in) between centers, for workpieces up to 150 kg (331 lb). It is the first size in the JHP range built on the heavier base, and the jump from the JHP-2003CNC is large: net weight fully enclosed is 7,460 kg (16,446 lb).
Much of that mass serves the wheel head. The wheel is Ø510 x 50 ~ 100 x Ø203.2, so up to 100 wide, and runs at 1,250 rpm on a 7.5 HP (5.6 kW) motor with 10 HP (7.5 kW) optional. Jainnher offers the spindle with hydrodynamic or hydrostatic bearings. In the hydrodynamic design the spindle rides on an oil film with almost no metal contact, which the maker credits for roundness and surface finish. The hydrostatic system adds an accumulator that Jainnher says holds pressure for 5 minutes if power fails. A pressure switch stops the spindle from starting until oil pressure is up.
The wheel head feeds at 90° on double V slideways coated with Turcite-B, over 280 mm (11.0 in) of travel, with a 0.0005 mm linear scale closing the loop. Setting unit is 0.0001 mm on both axes.
Between centers the machine uses No. 4 tapers, with No. 5 optional, and a 70 mm (2.8 in) tailstock sleeve. The table travels 700 mm (27.6 in). A 50 L tank feeds wheel head lubrication, separate from the 60 L hydraulic tank and the 160 L coolant tank.

Both support the spindle on oil. Jainnher describes the hydrodynamic bearing as an oil membrane that leaves almost no metal contact, absorbs vibration and gives long life. The hydrostatic system has a high pressure filter, accumulator, pressure switch, check valve and throttle valve, and the accumulator may keep pressure for 5 minutes after a power failure.
