Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hwacheon VESTA-850B that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hwacheon VESTA-850B is a geared-spindle vertical with 850 mm (33.5 in) of X, 600 mm (23.6 in) of Y and 600 mm (23.6 in) of Z over a 1,050 x 600 mm (41.3 x 23.6 in) table rated 800 kg (1,764 lb). Like the longer VESTA-1050B, it pairs a gear drive with a choice of taper: an 8,000 rpm BT-40 spindle or a 6,000 rpm BT-50 spindle, both rated 18.5 / 11 kW (24.8 / 14.8 hp).
A gear drive at these speeds is a choice for torque at low rpm, which is what large face mills, boring and tapping in steel need. The BT-50 version goes further: a Ø90 mm (Ø3.5 in) bearing bore against Ø70 mm (Ø2.8 in) on the BT-40, tools up to 20 kg (44 lb) and 350 mm (13.8 in) instead of 8 kg (18 lb) and 300 mm (11.8 in), and diameters of Ø125 / Ø245 mm (Ø4.9 / Ø9.6 in) with / without adjacent tools on the 24-tool magazine. The BT-40 version takes Ø80 / Ø150 mm (Ø3.1 / Ø5.9 in). With the optional 30-tool magazine, the BT-50 limit falls to Ø110 / Ø200 mm (Ø4.3 / Ø7.9 in). Both use grease-lubricated bearings and a fan-cooled jacket, and CAT-40 or CAT-50 shanks are optional.
Against the VESTA-800, which runs to 15,000 rpm on its PRO spindle, this machine gives up speed for cutting force. Rapids are slower too, at 24 / 24 / 18 m/min (945 / 945 / 709 ipm). The VESTA-850B is a machine for steel and cast iron rather than for fast aluminium work.
The spindle nose range is 125 ~ 725 mm (4.9 ~ 28.5 in) and the spindle centre is 675 mm (26.6 in) from the column. Five 18 x 120 mm (0.71 x 4.72 in) T-slots run across it.
The machine weighs 6,970 kg (15,366 lb) and occupies 3,870 x 2,247 mm (152.4 x 88.5 in). Height is 2,718 mm (107.0 in) with the BT-40 spindle and 2,887 mm (113.7 in) with the BT-50. It needs 50 kVA, 0.5 ~ 0.7 MPa x 690 NL/min of air and has a 340 L (90 US gal) coolant tank. Control is a Fanuc 0i-MF Plus.
