How much does the Hwacheon Hi-M1500 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hwacheon Hi-M1500 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hwacheon Hi-M1500 is a high-speed vertical with a near-square 1,500 x 1,300 mm (59.1 x 51.2 in) table and matching 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of X and 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of Y travel, but only 350 mm (13.8 in) of Z. It runs a 24,000 rpm BT-30 built-in spindle rated 6 kW (8.0 hp), with 15 kW (20.1 hp) as an option.
The Y travel is the reason to choose it. With 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of Y the Hi-M1500 covers a wide sheet or plate in one setup, where the Hwacheon Hi-M1300, with 800 mm (31.5 in) of Y, would need it moved. Table load stays at 300 kg (661 lb), the same as on the Hwacheon Hi-M1300, so this is a machine for large, flat and light work. Seven 16 mm T-slots at 180 mm (7.1 in) pitch spread the clamping across the table.
The bigger axes are slower. Rapids are 20 / 20 / 15 m/min (787 / 787 / 591 ipm), against 25 / 25 / 20 m/min (984 / 984 / 787 ipm) on the Hwacheon Hi-M1300, though cutting feed still reaches 10,000 mm/min (394 ipm). The spindle is grease lubricated and oil cooled. The magazine holds 16 tools by fixed address, with a listed maximum of Ø16 mm (Ø0.6 in), 200 mm (7.9 in) and 3 kg (6.6 lb) per tool, so cutting is done with small tools across a large area.
Two build options change the site plan. The 15 kW spindle raises the power requirement from 35 kVA to 45 kVA. The full cover changes the footprint from 4,349 x 2,953 mm (171.2 x 116.3 in) to 5,284 x 2,977 mm (208.0 x 117.2 in), the height from 2,288 mm (90.1 in) to 2,730 mm (107.5 in) and the weight from 7,800 kg (17,196 lb) to 8,900 kg (19,621 lb). SIEMENS-828D is standard and FANUC 0i-MF an option, on 380V, 60Hz or 220V, 60Hz respectively, and air demand is 0.5~0.7MPa x 690Nℓ/min.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,500 x 1,300 mm (59.1 x 51.2 in) table with matching X and Y travel
- 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of Y, against 800 mm (31.5 in) on the Hwacheon Hi-M1300
- 24,000 rpm BT-30 spindle with an optional 15 kW (20.1 hp) motor
- Seven 16 mm T-slots at 180 mm (7.1 in) pitch
- SIEMENS-828D as standard, FANUC 0i-MF as an option
Limitations
- 350 mm (13.8 in) of Z travel and a 300 kg (661 lb) table load restrict it to flat, light parts
- Rapids of 20 / 20 / 15 m/min (787 / 787 / 591 ipm) are slower than on the smaller Hi-M models
- Standard spindle is 6 kW (8.0 hp); the 15 kW option raises the supply to 45 kVA
- Maximum tool diameter is listed as Ø16 mm (Ø0.6 in), with 16 tools
- Footprint of 4,349 x 2,953 mm (171.2 x 116.3 in), or 5,284 x 2,977 mm (208.0 x 117.2 in) with the full cover

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The Hwacheon Hi-M1300 has a 1,300 x 800 mm (51.2 x 31.5 in) table, also rated at 300 kg (661 lb), and spindles of 24,000 rpm or 30,000 rpm. The Hi-M1500 widens the table to 1,500 x 1,300 mm (59.1 x 51.2 in). The Hwacheon Hi-M2000 stretches it to 2,000 x 1,300 mm (78.7 x 51.2 in) and raises the load to 500 kg (1,102 lb).
02
Size and weight. With the full cover the footprint grows from 4,349 x 2,953 mm (171.2 x 116.3 in) to 5,284 x 2,977 mm (208.0 x 117.2 in), height from 2,288 mm (90.1 in) to 2,730 mm (107.5 in) and weight from 7,800 kg (17,196 lb) to 8,900 kg (19,621 lb). Measure the bay and doorways for the covered version before ordering it.
03
One spindle speed, 24,000 rpm on BT-30, with two motor ratings: 6 kW (8.0 hp) as standard or 15 kW (20.1 hp) as an option. The 15 kW motor raises the power requirement from 35 kVA to 45 kVA. Cooling is by oil cooler and lubrication by grease.

16 tools, selected by fixed address. The table lists a maximum diameter of Ø16 mm (Ø0.6 in), length of 200 mm (7.9 in) and weight of 3 kg (6.6 lb). That points the machine at small end mills, drills and engraving tools rather than face milling.
