How much does the Hwacheon VESTA-1050B cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hwacheon VESTA-1050B that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hwacheon VESTA-1050B is the long-table version of the geared VESTA B machines: 1,050 mm (41.3 in) of X with 600 mm (23.6 in) of Y and Z, a 1,150 x 600 mm (45.3 x 23.6 in) table rated 1,000 kg (2,205 lb), and a spindle rated 18.5 / 15 kW (24.8 / 20.1 hp). Those last two figures are where it parts company with the VESTA-850B, which has 850 mm of X, 800 kg (1,764 lb) of load and an 18.5 / 11 kW (24.8 / 14.8 hp) rating.
The extra 200 mm of X over the VESTA-850B lets two vises or a vise and a fixture sit side by side, or holds a longer single part. The higher second power figure, 15 kW against the 11 kW of the VESTA-850B, gives more margin on long roughing passes in steel.
As on its smaller sibling, the gear-driven spindle comes as an 8,000 rpm BT-40 or a 6,000 rpm BT-50. The BT-50 version is the heavier build: 8,000 kg (17,637 lb) against 6,970 kg (15,366 lb), a Ø90 mm (Ø3.5 in) bearing bore against Ø70 mm (Ø2.8 in), 2,887 mm (113.7 in) tall against 2,718 mm (107.0 in), and tools up to 20 kg (44 lb) and 350 mm (13.8 in) instead of 8 kg (18 lb) and 300 mm (11.8 in).
The magazine choice affects tool diameter on both spindles. On the 24-tool magazine, the BT-40 takes Ø80 / Ø150 mm (Ø3.1 / Ø5.9 in) and the BT-50 Ø125 / Ø245 mm (Ø4.9 / Ø9.6 in), with / without adjacent tools. On the optional 30-tool magazine, the BT-40 limit becomes Ø75 / Ø200 mm (Ø3.0 / Ø7.9 in) and the BT-50 Ø110 / Ø200 mm (Ø4.3 / Ø7.9 in). Rapids are 24 / 24 / 18 m/min (945 / 945 / 709 ipm), and the spindle nose range is 125 ~ 725 mm (4.9 ~ 28.5 in).
The footprint is 4,220 x 2,247 mm (166.1 x 88.5 in), 350 mm longer than the VESTA-850B. Services are 50 kVA, 0.5 ~ 0.7 MPa x 690 NL/min of air and a 340 L (90 US gal) coolant tank; control is a Fanuc 0i-MF Plus.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The 6,000 rpm BT-50 machine weighs 8,000 kg (17,637 lb), against 6,970 kg (15,366 lb) for the 8,000 rpm BT-40. It is also taller, 2,887 mm (113.7 in) against 2,718 mm (107.0 in), and has a Ø90 mm (Ø3.5 in) bearing bore against Ø70 mm (Ø2.8 in).
02
It reduces the diameter limits. The BT-40 version goes from Ø80 / Ø150 mm (Ø3.1 / Ø5.9 in) to Ø75 / Ø200 mm (Ø3.0 / Ø7.9 in), and the BT-50 from Ø125 / Ø245 mm (Ø4.9 / Ø9.6 in) to Ø110 / Ø200 mm (Ø4.3 / Ø7.9 in), with / without adjacent tools.
03
The VESTA-1100 has a 1,300 x 600 mm (51.2 x 23.6 in) table, 30 tools and a BT-40 spindle to 10,000 / 12,000 rpm, or 15,000 rpm as PRO, rated 18.5 / 11 kW (24.8 / 14.8 hp). The VESTA-1050B trades that speed for a geared 8,000 rpm BT-40 or 6,000 rpm BT-50 spindle rated 18.5 / 15 kW (24.8 / 20.1 hp).
04
Allow a 4,220 x 2,247 mm (166.1 x 88.5 in) floor area and up to 2,887 mm (113.7 in) of height for the BT-50 version. The machine needs 50 kVA and 0.5 ~ 0.7 MPa x 690 NL/min of air, and the coolant tank holds 340 L (90 US gal).
