Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Huron DX 250-700 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Huron DX 250-700 is a 700 mm (27.6 in) turning centre built for heavier cutting than its capacity alone suggests. It weighs 5,750 kg (12,676 lb), which is nearly half as much again as the short DX 250-500, and turns up to 480 mm in diameter.
Mass and bed design are the story. Huron describes the DX 250/350 series as a monoblock structure with a 45° slant and wide roller-type linear guideways, meant to reduce vibration and extend tool life in hard-part machining. Swing over the bed is 600 mm.
The spindle is geared to torque more than speed. The range is 50-2,500 rpm on an A2-8 nose, with an 80 mm bore and 65 mm of bar capacity. Siemens motor power is 15.6/12 kW and Fanuc 15/11 kW. With a top speed of 2,500 rpm, small-diameter finishing at high surface speed is not this machine's strength.
Tailstock support comes from a 100 mm hydraulic quill with 120 mm of stroke and 500 kgf of thrust. X travel is 250 mm and both axes rapid at 24 m/min. The 8-station servo turret takes 25 x 25 mm tools. Stated positioning is 0.01 mm and repeatability 0.005 mm. The machine is 3,080 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,900 mm high.
