Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Huron DX 200-5 B that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A 75 mm bar capacity is the reason to look at the Huron DX 200-5 B. Its A2-8 spindle has a 90 mm bore, the largest in the DX 200 series, on a lathe that turns 365 mm (14.4 in) in diameter and 500 mm in length.
The larger spindle trades some speed for size. The range is 50-3,500 rpm, where the DX 200-5 A runs to 4,000 rpm. Motor power is 14.4/11 kW with Siemens and 11/9 kW with Fanuc. On small-diameter bar the lower top speed costs a little surface speed. On stock near the 75 mm limit it makes no practical difference.
An A2-8 nose also takes a larger chuck, so the DX 200-5 B is the better host for big-bore power chucks and for tube or hollow-bar work. The 365 mm turning diameter and 200 mm of X travel are shared with the DX 200-5 A.
Huron builds the series on a rigid bed with a 30° slant saddle and linear guideways, and lists a tailstock with hydraulic quill, hydraulic chucking and a servo turret that changes tools in 0.5 sec. Tailstock thrust is 500 kgf. Stated accuracy is 0.007 mm positioning and 0.005 mm repeatability. The machine weighs 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) and occupies 2,350 x 1,540 mm.
