Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Huron DX 350-2000 A that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Two metres between centres is the headline of the Huron DX 350-2000 A. It turns 2,000 mm (78.7 in) in length and 600 mm in diameter, with the A2-8 spindle that runs to 2,500 rpm, and weighs 10,200 kg (22,487 lb).
This is the longest bed in the DX 250/350 series. One figure changes with it: swing over the bed is 680 mm, where the DX 350-1500 A has 740 mm. Maximum and standard turning diameters are unchanged at 600 mm and 415 mm, so the reduction affects only what clears the bed covers, such as a large chuck or fixture.
A long slender workpiece needs the spindle speed more than the power. For a small-diameter shaft section, 2,500 rpm gives a workable cutting speed, which is why the A spindle makes sense on this bed. Power is 15.6/12 kW with Siemens and 18.5/15 kW with Fanuc. Bar capacity is 65 mm.
Support comes from a tailstock with a 130 mm quill, a 150 mm stroke and up to 1,000 kgf. Huron's table does not list a steady rest, which a two-metre shaft will usually need. The turret has 8 stations for 32 x 32 mm tools. Positioning is 0.015 mm and repeatability 0.007 mm. Length is 5,550 mm and width 2,820 mm.
