Overview
The Huron DX 500-1250 B is a heavy turning centre for work up to 800 mm (31.5 in) in diameter and 1,250 mm long, built around an A2-11 spindle with a 110 mm bore. It weighs 10,000 kg (22,046 lb).
This combination suits production of mid-size heavy parts: gear blanks, bearing housings, valve bodies, large couplings. The spindle runs 50-1,500 rpm with 26/22 kW from the Fanuc motor or 33/22 kW from the Siemens motor, and bars up to 90 mm pass through it.
Huron says the DX Large machines are built to hold accuracy over a long life under heavy and interrupted cuts, and to be easy to service. The structural points behind that are the single-piece slant saddle, the step-up construction and the wider linear guideways. X travel is 410 mm and the standard turning diameter 600 mm, so the turret works freely on parts up to that size.
