Overview
The Huron AX MSY 200 is the full-specification version of the 200-size AX: live tools (M), a secondary spindle (S) and a Y axis (Y). With it a part can be turned and milled on one end, handed to the second spindle, and finished on the other end without leaving the machine.
The secondary spindle runs faster than the main one. It reaches 6,000 rpm with 7.5 kW and 95 Nm on an A2-5 nose, against 4,500 rpm, 9.2 kW and 175 Nm on the A2-6 main spindle. Both have a 65 mm bore. A lighter, quicker second spindle is appropriate, since back-end operations are usually facing, chamfering and a few holes.
In Huron's table the secondary spindle takes the place of the tailstock, so long slender shafts are better served by the AX MY 200. For bar-fed parts up to 52 mm the MSY arrangement is the efficient one, because the pick-off supports the part during cut-off.
Turning capacity is 330 mm (13.0 in) in diameter and 625 mm in length. Y travel is ± 40 mm. The 12-station turret takes BMT 45 holders and drives tools at up to 4,500 rpm. Rapids are 24 m/min on X and Y and 35 m/min on Z, and stated positioning is 0.005 mm. The machine is 4,280 mm wide and 2,436 mm deep.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Secondary spindle at up to 6,000 rpm for complete machining of both ends
- Y axis of ± 40 mm on the live-tool turret
- 65 mm bore on both spindles
- 12 driven stations at 4,500 rpm
- Same 4,280 x 2,436 mm footprint as the simpler AX M 200
Limitations
- No tailstock is listed for the MSY version
- Secondary spindle is rated 7.5 kW and 95 Nm
- Main spindle power is 9.2 kW
- A single turret serves both spindles, so the spindles cannot cut at the same time
