Overview

The NC rotary table of the Hedelius TILTENTA 7-2600 NEO EL is moved to the left. That one change, together with a side loading opening and open interfaces, lets an automation system reach the rotary table from the left-hand side of the machine while the rest of the long table stays free. The result is a swivel-spindle 5-axis machining centre that Hedelius positions for fully automated machining of single parts and series.

Geometry differs slightly from the non-EL machine. The fixed table's clamping area is 2,840 x 700 mm and vertical Z travel is 735 mm, with 800 mm horizontal. X is 2,600 mm vertical and 2,030 mm horizontal, Y is 700 mm. There is no pendulum operation row for this variant, which fits: the side of the machine is taken by the loading opening, not by a second operator station.

Pallets land on a rotary table with a Ø 700 mm faceplate that carries 800 kg (1,764 lb) and has a holding torque of 2,900 Nm. The spindle head reaches them from -98° to +98°. Everything to the right of the rotary table is plain fixed table for up to 2,500 kg, so a long part can still be clamped there and machined by hand between automated batches. Hedelius calls this mixed production of large workpieces and precise 5-axis machining in one machine.

Tooling for unattended running needs a look. The capacity row reads 115 / 160 / 225 / 309 for EL machines, the 45-place figure being marked as not for EL, although the product page mentions 45 tools as standard. Spindles: 22 kW or 29 kW at 14,000 rpm, 35 kW at 18,000 rpm. Weight: 12,000 kg.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • NC rotary table offset to the left so an automation system can load it from the side
  • Open interfaces for manufacturer-independent automation
  • Long fixed table for 2,500 kg remains usable for manual large-part work
  • Rotary table for 800 kg with 2,900 Nm of holding torque
  • Vertical Z travel of 735 mm

Limitations

  • No pendulum operation listed for the EL variant
  • Hedelius's sources disagree on the magazine: the data sheet marks the 45-place magazine as not for EL, the page mentions 45 tools as standard
  • Clamping area is 2,840 x 700 mm, shorter than the X travel of 2,600 mm would suggest once the rotary table is counted
  • Highest listed spindle torque is 183 Nm

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is different about the TILTENTA 7-2600 NEO EL?

It has a laterally offset NC rotary table, a side loading opening and an interface to manufacturer-independent automation. Hedelius states that open interfaces and the offset rotary table allow an automation system to load the machine from the left-hand side.

02 What travels and table does the TILTENTA 7-2600 NEO EL have?

X 2,600 / 2,030 mm and Z 735 / 800 mm, each for the spindle vertical / horizontal, and Y 700 mm. The clamping area is 2,840 x 700 mm with a table load of 2,500 kg. The rotary table faceplate is Ø 700 mm for 800 kg.

03 How many tools does the TILTENTA 7-2600 NEO EL have?

This needs confirming with Hedelius. The data sheet's theoretical capacities are 45 / 115 / 160 / 225 / 309 with the 45 marked as not for EL, while the product page mentions 45 tools as standard. Tool limits are 330 mm in length and 5 kg.

04 Can long workpieces still be machined on the TILTENTA 7-2600 NEO EL?

Yes. Hedelius describes the long machine table with integrated NC rotary table as allowing mixed production of large workpieces and precise 5-axis machining in one machine. The fixed table takes 2,500 kg (5,511 lb) and X travel is 2,600 mm with the spindle vertical.
