Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hartford Aero-541BL-5X that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Hartford's Aero-541BL-5X is the middle of three five-metre gantry type 5-axis machining centers. The table is 5,000 x 3,600 mm (196.9 x 141.7 in), X travel 5,000 mm (196.9 in), Y travel 4,100 mm (161.4 in), and Z travel 1,100 mm or optionally 1,300 mm.
Its table describes the spindles as built-in and gives the HSK-A63 two speeds, 18,000 and 24,000 rpm. The slower of the two is not a lesser spindle. A motor spindle wound for 18,000 rpm generally has more torque low down than one wound for 24,000 rpm, so it is the usual pick when aluminium roughing with larger cutters matters more than the last bit of finishing speed. The HSK-A100 alternative runs 12,000 rpm.
Heat is the enemy of a long finishing run, and Hartford addresses it on the Z axis by cooling the motor base, ballscrew, nuts and bearings. The stated result is a 15% increase in dynamic rigidity and axis accuracy.
The 5-faced Aero-541B uses the same table with a 6,000 rpm #50 gear head. On the 5X, X runs on four linear guideways and Y on three, all of the roller type, and by Hartford's limits a five-metre X axis takes the linear motor.
