Overview
The Hedelius TILTENTA 11-4600 can be loaded while it cuts. A work area partition splits this 5-axis travelling column machining centre into two zones, listed in the data sheet as pendulum operation of 2,025 x 2,025 mm, and Hedelius states that the machine can then be loaded in oscillation mode during machining. Motor-activated automatic doors serve each side.
Both zones are generous. Y travel is 1,100 mm (43.3 in) across the whole table, and the vertical X travel totals 4,600 mm (181.1 in), with 4,030 mm available when the spindle is horizontal. Z is 900 / 1,005 mm. The fixed table has a clamping area of 5,080 x 1,100 mm and a table load of 6,000 kg (13,228 lb).
Two zones only pay off if tools arrive quickly at either end. The 65-cavity magazine travels with the column, and Hedelius says tool changes take only a few seconds despite the 4600 mm travel path. The data sheet puts chip-to-chip time at ca. 13 s. Standby magazines extend the theoretical capacity to 329.
For 5-axis work an NC rotary table with a Ø 1,140 mm faceplate is integrated, rated for 1,800 kg or optionally 2,200 kg, and the main spindle swivels from -98° to +98°. Spindle choices are 22 kW or 37 kW at 14,000 rpm in SK40 / BT40, and 35 kW at 18,000 rpm or 50 kW with 217 Nm at 15,000 rpm in HSK A63. Hedelius also points to vertical slat covers and good accessibility to the work area. Feed force is 27,000 N and machine weight 28,500 kg (62,831 lb).
