How much does the Hedelius ACURA 85 MARATHON cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hedelius ACURA 85 MARATHON that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Two pallet formats separate the Hedelius ACURA 85 MARATHON from the smaller MARATHON machines: its table row in the data sheet reads 400 x 400 / 500 x 500 mm. It is the largest ACURA 5-axis centre prepared at the factory for Hedelius's MARATHON pallet magazines, with a clamping weight of 1,000 kg (2,205 lb).
The preparation consists of a built-in zero point clamping system, a side loading opening approx. 900 mm high on the left, and an electrical interface to the magazine. According to the data sheet the matching systems are the MARATHON SR518 and the MARATHON PL406. The machine stays accessible from the front with the automation in place, and the loading station has a clear view of the work area.
Axis travels are 900 mm in X and 700 mm in Z. Y is 850 / 514 mm (horizontal / vertical), the lower vertical figure being the result of the clamping system on the table. The interference circle is Ø 900 mm, the swivel range +30° to -115°, the swivel torque 3,400 Nm. No T-slots are listed for this variant.
On a machine that is meant to run by itself the magazine matters. 80 places are standard and Hedelius offers an additional 264 tools by connecting a standby magazine. Tool length is 330 / 390 mm. The data sheet spindles are SK40 / BT40 at 14,000 rpm with 22 kW or 37 kW and HSK A63 with 35 kW at 18,000 rpm or 22 kW at 14,000 rpm. The feed force of 23,000 N and the 11,000 kg (24,250 lb) machine weight are those of the other ACURA 85 versions.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The data sheet gives 400 x 400 / 500 x 500 mm for the table of this variant. The clamping weight is 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) and the interference circle is Ø 900 mm. A zero point clamping system is built into the table at the factory.
02
The MARATHON SR518 and the MARATHON PL406 carry a yes in the data sheet's automation table. The SR422 and the RZ430 carry a no. The machine has an electrical interface for communication with the MARATHON pallet magazine systems.
03
Hedelius states that the machining centre has an 80-place tool magazine as standard and that an additional 264 tools are optionally available by connecting a standby magazine. The data sheet lists theoretical capacities of 80 / 150 / 195 / 260 / 344.
04
X and Z are unchanged at 900 mm and 700 mm. The Y figure for the vertical position is 514 mm on the MARATHON, because the zero point clamping system takes up height on the table. The horizontal Y figure is 850 mm.
