Overview
The Hedelius ACURA 85 tops the ACURA line: a 5-axis machining centre with a rotating/swivelling table for workpieces up to 1,000 kg (2,205 lb). Travels are 900 mm (35.4 in) in X, 700 mm (27.6 in) in Z and 850 / 600 mm in Y for horizontal and vertical, and the table measures Ø 850 x 750 mm inside a Ø 900 mm interference circle.
Everything about the table is scaled for that load. Swivel torque is 3,400 Nm with a 5,000 Nm clamp, the dividing torque is 1,500 Nm, and the T-slots grow to 18 mm, seven of them at 100 mm spacing. Rotation is 0 – 20 min-1 only, so there is no faster table drive listed here as there is on the smaller ACURA models. Maximum feed force is 23,000 N, well above the rest of the range, and the axes still move at 40 m/min.
For the spindle, the data sheet lists SK40 / BT40 at 14,000 rpm with 117 Nm and 22 kW or with 185 Nm and 37 kW, and HSK A63 at 18,000 rpm with 136 Nm and 35 kW or at 14,000 rpm with 22 kW. The product page also names an HSK A63 spindle with 217 Nm and 50 kW at 15,000 rpm and one at 24,000 rpm with 30 kW.
The magazine holds 80 tools as standard and is operated from the front. Tool length can be 330 or 390 mm depending on the magazine, and chip-to-chip time is ca. 9.7 s. Plan the installation early. The machine weighs 11,000 kg (24,250 lb), with a transport height of 2,912 / 3,032 mm and a width of 3,480 / 3,350 mm. As on the whole range, 5-axis simultaneous milling is optional.
