Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hartford Aero-632BL-5X that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Six metres of X travel over a table 2,700 mm wide: the Hartford Aero-632BL-5X is the slim six-metre gantry type 5-axis machining center of the Aero series. X travel is 6,000 mm (236.2 in), Y travel 3,200 mm (126.0 in), and the table 6,000 x 2,700 mm (236.2 x 106.3 in).
The shape is that of the parts it is aimed at. Wing spars, stringers, floor beams and long extrusions are many metres long and well under a metre wide, and they are cut from aluminium at high spindle speed. The built-in spindle is listed at 24,000 rpm in HSK-A63 and 12,000 rpm in HSK-A100, and Hartford describes it as oil-air lubricated.
Six metres is as long as an Aero 5X gets with a linear motor. Hartford limits that drive to X axes of up to 6 meters and switches to rack and pinion at 8 meters and above. The Y axis is described with three linear guideways and a linear motor design.
The operator works at a Hartford display designed for the Heidenhain TNC 640. Z travel is 1,100 mm, or 1,300 mm; the Z axis has twin ballscrews and a cooled drive train, and the 5 axis head comes from Cytec. The table is rated at 5,000 kg/m².

X travel 6,000 mm (236.2 in), Y travel 3,200 mm (126.0 in), Z travel 1,100 mm or 1,300 mm, table 6,000 x 2,700 mm (236.2 x 106.3 in) at 5,000 kg/m², built-in spindle 24,000 rpm in HSK-A63 or 12,000 rpm in HSK-A100.
02
Hartford's page names a Hartford-base self-display designed for the Heidenhain TNC 640 and credits it with faster operational efficiency.
03
Hartford states that the linear motor is limited to X axes of up to 6 meters and that rack and pinion drive on X is limited to axes of 8 meters and more, where it allows a feed rate up to 50 m/min. The Aero-632BL-5X is at the top of the linear motor range.
