Overview
The Heller HF 5500 is the larger of the two HF 5-axis machining centers, with 900 mm of X travel, 950 mm of Y and 930 mm of Z. Against the HF 3500 and its 710 mm, 750 mm and 710 mm, every axis is longer, and the pallet grows from 500 x 500 mm to 630 x 630 mm.
How the machine is loaded changes what fits. The pallet changer version takes a workpiece of Ø 720 x 800 mm, diameter by height. The table loading version, with a Ø 810 mm table and a Ø 880 mm clamping plate, takes Ø 900 x 870 mm. A shop that needs the full diameter gives up the pallet changer, and one that wants the changer for unattended shifts has to accept the smaller part.
