DMS Teton5 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the DMS Teton5 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from DMS or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The DMS Teton5 is a fixed-gantry 5-axis machine: the bridge stays put and the table carries the work beneath it. DMS offers it with a single table or with twin tables for pendulum processing, and lists strokes of 5 ft to 12 ft on both X and Y with 36 in or 48 in (914 or 1,219 mm) of Z.

A fixed gantry is the stiffer way to carry a long Z ram, since the columns do not have to travel, and DMS makes that argument itself for what it calls High-Z applications. The cost is floor length, because a moving table needs room to run out on both sides of the bridge.

With twin tables, one part is trimmed while the previous one is unloaded and the next is fixtured, which keeps the head cutting through load time. Twin table sizes are 5 ft x 5 ft, 5 ft x 10 ft, 5 ft x 12 ft and 6 ft x 5 ft; single tables go up to 6 ft x 12 ft. The carousel tool changer backs up that production use with 12 / 24 tools.

Motion is by spinning ball nut and recirculating ball screw, with scales available as an option, and average speed across the three linear axes is 1,333 in/min (33.9 m/min). Spindle power is moderate, 8-13 kW to a 13 kW maximum at 24,000 rpm, on the Tilt K Plus, Tilt H Plus, DMS Standard Yoke or DMS Cast Yokes. B is 115° or 130°; C is 363° each way on a DMS head, optionally continuous, or 320° on a Hiteco head. HMI and NC are Fagor.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Fixed gantry, which DMS specifies for rigidity in High-Z applications
  • Twin tables for pendulum processing, with single tables up to 6 ft x 12 ft
  • Carousel tool changer listed at 12 / 24 tools
  • Spinning ball nut and recirculating ball screw transmission with scales available as an option
  • Z stroke of 36 in or 48 in (914 or 1,219 mm) on a 12 ft class machine

Limitations

  • Maximum spindle power is 13 kW, against 20 kW on the Glacier5 and Redwood5
  • Only four head units are listed; the Tilt V and Tilt W offered on the Glacier5 are not
  • Strokes end at 12 ft on X and Y
  • A moving table needs clear floor on both sides of the fixed bridge
06

Best For

High-volume 5-axis trimming on twin tables in pendulum Tall parts that need a rigid gantry and up to 48 in (1,219 mm) of Z Jobs with many tools, using the 12 / 24 tool carousel Composites, plastics, tooling board and aluminum within 12 ft

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is pendulum processing on the DMS Teton5?

With the twin table configuration the machine works on one table while the other is outside the cutting area for unloading and loading, then swaps. DMS says this allows continuous operation and minimized downtime, and positions it for high-volume production where machine utilization matters.

02 Why does the Teton5 have a fixed gantry?

DMS states that the fixed gantry gives rigidity in High-Z applications. The bridge does not travel, so the Z stroke of 36 in or 48 in (914 or 1,219 mm) is carried by a stationary structure while the table moves the part.

03 What table sizes does the Teton5 offer?

Single tables are listed as 5 ft x 5 ft, 5 ft x 10 ft, 10 ft x 5 ft, 5 ft x 12 ft, 12 ft x 5 ft and 6 ft x 12 ft. Twin tables are 5 ft x 5 ft, 5 ft x 10 ft, 5 ft x 12 ft and 6 ft x 5 ft. X and Y strokes both range from 5 ft to 12 ft.

04 What spindle and head options are on the Teton5?

The head units are the Tilt K Plus, Tilt H Plus, DMS Standard Yoke and DMS Cast Yokes, with spindles of 8-13 kW and a maximum speed of 24,000 rpm. B is (+/-) 115° / 130°. C is (+/-) 363° on a DMS head, with continuous rotation optional, or (+/-) 320° on a Hiteco head.
