Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Goodway GLA-1500 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Goodway GLA-1500 is a small-part production lathe built around its loader: a 6 in chuck machine with Ø200 mm (7.9 in) of turning diameter and 250 mm (9.8 in) of turning length that Goodway equips with a gantry type loading and unloading system and fits into a 2.5 m2 footprint.
Travels are short and matched to chucked blanks. X is 120 mm (4.7 in) and Z is 300 mm (11.8 in), both on linear guideways with C3 class ground ball screws. Bar up to Ø45 mm (1.8 in) passes through the spindle. Swing over the bed is Ø520 mm (20.5 in), far more than the turning diameter, which leaves clearance for the gantry and for tooling.
The spindle motor carries three ratings in Goodway's table: 5.5 kW (7.4 hp) continuous, 7.5 kW (10.1 hp) for 15 min. and 11 kW (14.8 hp) at 15% duty. Standard top speed is 4,500 rpm, and 6,000 rpm is an option worth ordering if the work is mostly small diameters.
Twelve stations sit on the servo turret, which indexes to the opposite station in 0.5 seconds by the maker's figure. The M variation swaps in a 12-station live tooling turret with ER20 collets at 4,000 rpm and adds a Cs-type C-axis. A tailstock is optional as well. Its base is fixed, the Ø70 mm (2.8 in) quill is programmable with 80 mm (3.1 in) of travel, and it uses an MT#4 live center. Chips leave through a rear-discharge conveyor, so machines can stand side by side in a line.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Gantry type loading and unloading system on a machine with a 2.5 m2 footprint
- Rear-discharge chip conveyor, which lets machines be placed close together in a line
- Linear guideways on X and Z with C3 class ground ball screws
- 12-station servo turret; 0.5 seconds to the opposite station per Goodway
- 6,000 rpm spindle available as an option over the standard 4,500 rpm
Limitations
- Turning length is 250 mm (9.8 in) and turning diameter Ø200 mm (7.9 in), so this is a small-part machine only
- The continuous spindle rating is 5.5 kW (7.4 hp)
- X travel is 120 mm (4.7 in)
- Tailstock, live tooling turret and C-axis are all options; no Y-axis or sub-spindle is listed

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Maximum turning diameter is Ø200 mm (7.9 in) and maximum turning length 250 mm (9.8 in), on a 6 in chuck. Bar capacity is Ø45 mm (1.8 in). Axis travel is 120 mm (4.7 in) in X and 300 mm (11.8 in) in Z.
02
The standard spindle runs to 4,500 rpm, with 6,000 rpm as an option. Goodway rates the motor at 5.5 kW (7.4 hp) continuous, 7.5 kW (10.1 hp) on a 15 min. rating and 11 kW (14.8 hp) at 15% duty.
03
Yes. Goodway states that it is equipped with a gantry type loading and unloading system for mass production, and the rear-discharge chip conveyor keeps the sides of the machine clear so several can be arranged in a compact line. The footprint is given as 2.5 m2.
04
In the M variation. That version has a 12-station live tooling turret with ER20 collets and a live tooling speed of 4,000 rpm, and the spindle switches to C-axis servo mode through a Cs-axis design. The base machine is a turning-only lathe with a 12-station servo turret.
