Goodway GVF-1215

The Goodway GVF-1215 marks the point in the fixed-beam GVF series where the heavier drive train begins. Table torque jumps to 17,100 Nm (12,613 lb-ft), the tool magazine grows to 16 positions and the optional tooling spindle to 11 kW (14.8 hp) continuous, all on a 1,250 mm (49.2 in) table.

Capacity is 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of turning diameter, 900 mm (35.4 in) of turning height and 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) on the table. The swing of 1,600 mm (63.0 in) gives comfortable clearance around the largest part, and X travel equals it at 1,600 mm.

Steel rings and forged blanks are the natural work. The motor is the series unit, 37 kW (49.6 hp) continuous and 45 kW (60.3 hp) on the 30 min. rating, but the higher torque means it can hold a deep cut at the low table speeds that a 1,500 mm diameter demands. Goodway describes the workpiece spindle as a gear type and mounts it on crossed roller bearings.

No cross rail adjustment exists on a GVF. If the parts are taller than 900 mm, the moving-rail GV-1200 is the equivalent machine, with 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of turning height on a table of the same diameter and the same 17,100 Nm. For milled and drilled features the M variation supplies a BT50 tooling spindle, 15 kW (20.1 hp) on the 30 min. rating, turning 1 ~ 2,400 rpm, together with a C-axis. The CNC is the FANUC Oi-TF Plus.
