Goodway GS-6800 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Goodway GS-6800 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Goodway or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Ø260 mm (10.2 in) through the spindle is the figure that matters on the Goodway GS-6800. It is the largest bore in the GS-6000 series, served by a 24 in chuck that the table notes as an optional air chuck, and it comes with the slowest spindle of the three models: 400 rpm in low range and 800 rpm in high.

Those speeds are not a weakness for the intended work. A Ø260 mm tube at 800 rpm already has a high surface speed, and threading large connections is done far slower than that. The 30 kW (40.2 hp) continuous, 37 kW (49.6 hp) 30 min. motor works through a 2-step gearbox.

Machine size is unchanged from the smaller-bore models. Goodway lists a Ø930 mm (36.6 in) swing, Ø880 mm (34.6 in) of turning diameter, and beds with 1,050 mm (41.3 in), 2,020 mm (79.5 in) or 3,300 mm (129.9 in) of Z travel. X travel is 500 mm (19.7 in). The bed is a 45° true slant design with over-sized box ways and a wide span.

If the stock is smaller, the GS-6600 is the better fit, with Ø205 mm (8.1 in) of bar capacity and a 1,100 rpm high range. The GS-6800 earns its place only when the part will not pass through anything less. A 12-station servo turret is fitted, and the M variation replaces it with a 12-station ER50 live tooling turret and C-axis for cross-drilling and milling of flats and slots.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Ø260 mm (10.2 in) bar capacity, the largest in the GS-6000 series
  • 24 in chuck, listed with an optional air chuck
  • 45° true slant bed with over-sized, wide-span box ways
  • Z travel up to 3,300 mm (129.9 in)

Limitations

  • Maximum spindle speed is 800 rpm in high range and 400 rpm in low
  • Turning diameter is Ø880 mm (34.6 in), no greater than the smaller-bore models
  • The air chuck is an option, not standard
  • No Y-axis or sub-spindle is offered in this series

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the spindle bore of the GS-6800?

Goodway lists a bar capacity of Ø260 mm (10.2 in) with a 24 in chuck. The other models in the series pass Ø115 mm (4.5 in) on the GS-6000 and Ø175 mm (6.9 in) or Ø205 mm (8.1 in) on the GS-6600.

02 How fast can the GS-6800 spindle turn?

Up to 400 rpm in the low gear range and 800 rpm in the high range. The spindle motor is rated 30 kW (40.2 hp) continuous and 37 kW (49.6 hp) for 30 min.

03 What turning lengths are available on the GS-6800?

1,020 mm (40.2 in), 2,000 mm (78.7 in) or 3,300 mm (129.9 in). The tailstock base travels 790 mm (31.1 in), 1,790 mm (70.5 in) or 3,200 mm (126.0 in) on the respective beds.

04 Does the GS-6800 support driven tools?

With the M variation. That adds a C-axis, described by Goodway as a Cf-axis with a disk brake, and a 12-station live tooling turret with ER50 collets at 10 ~ 3,000 rpm. X travel with the live tooling turret is 520 mm (20.5 in).
