How much does the Fryer VB-100 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fryer VB-100 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fryer VB-100 stretches the open VB machining center to 100 in (2,540 mm) of X travel. It uses the same column and cross travels as the VB-80, 35 in (889 mm) of Y and 26 in (660 mm) of Z, over a longer 30 x 112 in (762 x 2,845 mm) table, and weighs 20,500 lb (9,299 kg).
The added length changes the feed figures. Rapid traverse falls to 400 ipm (10.2 m/min) and the cutting feed rate is capped at the same 400 ipm, where the VB-80 allows 600 ipm (15.2 m/min). A long machine with a heavy table moves deliberately, and jobs should be planned so that tools finish their work at one end of a part before travelling to the other.
Why choose it over an enclosed 100 in machine? Because of what an open table makes possible. A beam or frame longer than the table can hang off both ends. Two shorter jobs can be set up side by side and run one after the other, with the operator loading one while the other is cut. And a part that stands above the head casting is not stopped by a roof. Fryer's dual chip auger system for 70" - 100" of X travel is the matching option for chip removal.
Table load is 5,000 lb (2,268 kg). The spindle has 30 hp (22.4 kW) peak and 155 ft-lb (210 Nm) at 350 rpm, with 800 ft-lb (1,085 Nm) quoted for the 40 hp motor and gearbox. Y and Z extensions to 40 in (1,016 mm) and 34 in (864 mm) are offered as on the VB-80.
