Overview

With 3,500 mm (137.8 in) between its columns, the AWEA HTP-4033 opens the middle width of the HTP bridge series. Travels are 4,000 mm (157.5 in) in X, 3,300 mm (129.9 in) in Y and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) in Z, over a table of 4,020 x 3,000 mm (158.3 x 118.1 in).

That table is nearly square in plan, and it changes what fits. The HTP-4025 offers the same length on a 4,020 x 2,400 mm (158.3 x 94.5 in) table with 2,500 mm (98.4 in) of Y. Going wide does not raise the load rating, which stays at 15,000 kg (33,069 lb), and it adds little mass: 43,000 kg (94,797 lb) against the 41,000 kg (90,388 lb) of the HTP-4025.

Nothing is lost in motion either. X rapid traverse is 15 m/min (591 ipm), Y and Z run at 12 m/min (472 ipm), and cutting feed is 1 ~ 10 m/min (39 ~ 394 ipm). VDI accuracy matches the narrow machine at P ≤ 0.030 mm over full travel.

A longer cross beam puts more demand on the Y-axis, since the headstock hangs further from the columns at mid-span. AWEA's answer is a stepped offset three guideways design on Y, with the head on a one-piece U-shaped saddle. The spindle is the series' 4,000 rpm gear unit with BBT50 (ISO 50) taper. Coolant capacity rises to 1,050 liter on this frame.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 3,300 mm (129.9 in) of Y travel and 3,500 mm (137.8 in) between the columns on a 4,000 mm (157.5 in) X stroke
  • Keeps the 15 m/min (591 ipm) X rapid and 1 ~ 10 m/min (39 ~ 394 ipm) cutting feed of the HTP-4025
  • 4,020 x 3,000 mm (158.3 x 118.1 in) table for wide plates and ring-shaped parts
  • 43,000 kg (94,797 lb), close to the 41,000 kg (90,388 lb) of the narrower HTP-4025
  • 1,050 liter coolant tank, larger than the 900 liter tank of the HTP-4025

Limitations

  • Table load is 15,000 kg (33,069 lb), no higher than the narrower HTP-4025
  • The 3,000 mm (118.1 in) table width is less than the 3,300 mm (129.9 in) Y travel, so the widest work overhangs the table
  • 4,000 rpm gear spindle only in the specification table
  • A universal head must be ordered for slanted angle milling
06

Best For

Wide plates, large flanges and frames up to about 4,000 x 3,000 mm Parts that need 3,300 mm (129.9 in) of Y but only 4,000 mm of X Heavy cutting with BBT50 tooling at up to 4,000 rpm Two fixtures side by side across a 3,000 mm (118.1 in) wide table

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does the HTP-4033 add over the HTP-4025?

Width. Against the HTP-4025, column spacing goes from 2,700 mm (106.3 in) to 3,500 mm (137.8 in), Y travel from 2,500 mm (98.4 in) to 3,300 mm (129.9 in) and the table from 4,020 x 2,400 mm (158.3 x 94.5 in) to 4,020 x 3,000 mm (158.3 x 118.1 in). Rapids, cutting feed, table load and accuracy figures are the same on both.

02 Is a wider Y travel available on the HTP-4033?

The table prints 3,300 mm (129.9 in) followed by "Opt. 4,000". The distance between columns is given as 3,500 mm (137.8 in) with no option beside it, so ask AWEA how the optional travel relates to the clearance between the columns.

03 How is the Y-axis of the HTP-4033 supported?

By three guideways in a stepped offset layout, which AWEA says reduces distortion due to headstock weight. All three axes use roller type linear guide ways, and the Z-axis has two guideways on each side of the headstock.

04 What is the X rapid traverse of the HTP-4033?

15 m/min (591 ipm), the series maximum. The HTP-5033 and HTP-6033 are listed at 10 m/min (394 ipm) and the HTP-7033 at 7.5 m/min (295 ipm), so this is the quickest machine of the 3,500 mm (137.8 in) frame.
