Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hartford 5A-65EF that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A 15 / 18.5 kW motor option on a trunnion machine with a Ø 650 mm (25.6 in) table: the Hartford 5A-65EF is the 4+1 axis version of the 5A-65 and the one with the heavier spindle drive. Travels are 650 mm (25.6 in), 520 mm (20.5 in) and 460 mm (18.1 in) in X, Y and Z.
Positional 5-axis work usually involves real metal removal. A part is indexed to a face and then roughed, drilled and tapped as on a 3-axis machine, so torque and power matter more than they do in light simultaneous finishing. That fits the motor row here, 7.5 / 11 kW with 15 / 18.5 kW as the option (Cont. / 30 min), against 9.8 opt. 12.5 kW on the 5A-65E.
The table takes 500 kg (1,102 lb). B tilts through +110° ~ -40° and C turns 360°, so all five open faces and moderate undercuts can be reached in one clamping. Spindle speeds are the same as on the E model: 10,000 / 12,000 / 15,000 rpm for the DDS spindle and 24,000 rpm for the built-in one.
Hartford's structural notes describe the three linear axes overlapping above the table, so the workpiece never travels in X, Y or Z, and a Y axis that is supported over its full length to prevent sag. Tools change in a minimum of 1.38 secs from an arm-type magazine with 24 pockets, or 30, 40 or 60.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Optional 15 / 18.5 kW spindle motor (Cont. / 30 min) for real roughing on indexed faces
- Ø 650 mm (25.6 in) table carrying 500 kg (1,102 lb)
- B axis +110° ~ -40° and C axis 360° for five-sided access
- Fully supported Y axis and overlapping linear axes above the table
- Up to 60 tools, per the A: 24(30/40/60) entry
Limitations
- Listed as 4+1 axis; the 5A-65E is the simultaneous 5-axis model
- DDS spindle limited to 15,000 rpm
- Y travel of 520 mm (20.5 in) is less than the table diameter
- Standard magazine holds only 24 tools

Frequently Asked Questions
01
7.5 / 11 kW as listed, with 15 / 18.5 kW as an option, both as continuous / 30 min ratings. The spindle nose is #40, with a DDS spindle at 10,000 / 12,000 / 15,000 rpm or a built-in spindle at 24,000 rpm.
02
The table is Ø 650 mm (25.6 in) with a 500 kg (1,102 lb) load. Linear travels are 650 mm (25.6 in) in X, 520 mm (20.5 in) in Y and 460 mm (18.1 in) in Z, and the usable height shrinks when the table is tilted.
03
When the work is five-sided positioning, not continuous contouring. The 5A-65EF is the 4+1 axis version and lists the stronger motor option, 15 / 18.5 kW, where the 5A-65E lists 9.8 opt. 12.5 kW. Travels and table are identical.
04
BT40 shanks, with BBT, CAT, DIN and HSK A63 as listed alternatives. The magazine entry is A: 24(30/40/60) pcs, an arm-type changer with 24 tools as standard, and the minimum tool change time is 1.38 secs.
