Overview
For batch work on mid-sized light parts, Feeler offers the VMP-32APC: the 820 mm class VMP machine with an automatic pallet changer and 700 x 500 mm (27.6 x 19.7 in) pallets. Each pallet takes 200 kg (441 lb).
Unlike many pallet conversions, this one gives nothing away in travel. X is 820 mm (32.3 in), Y is 520 mm (20.5 in) and Z is 505 mm (19.9 in), the same three figures as the fixed-table VMP-32. Both X and Y travel are larger than the pallet, so the tool can run clear of the fixture on every side, useful for edge profiling and for side-entry cutters.
The pallet load is the trade. The VMP-32 table carries 800 kg; here the figure is 200 kg per pallet with the fixture included. That steers the machine toward aluminium and thin-walled parts, die castings and similar work where the part weighs little and clamping takes time.
Spindle speed is 10,000 rpm on a 7/24 No.40 taper, the magazine holds 22 tools, and rapid traverse is 40 m/min (1,575 ipm) in X and Y and 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) in Z. Feeler describes the VMP series as a rigid cast iron design with an A-frame column and names automotive component machining as a main use, which fits a pallet machine of this size well.
