Feeler TC-20α — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Feeler TC-20α that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Feeler or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Feeler TC-20α is a drilling and tapping center on a 7/24 No.30 taper, with 510 mm (20.1 in) of X travel, 400 mm (15.7 in) of Y and a 600 x 400 mm (23.6 x 15.7 in) table. Feeler's table heads the column TC-20α Turret/Arm, and two rows carry paired values that go with those two tool changers: Z travel of 300/400 mm (11.8/15.7 in) and a tool count of 14/20.

The arm-type version is the one the maker describes in detail. It has an ATC that holds 20 tools with a tool-change time of 1.7 seconds, and supports bidirectional random tool selection. By the order of the rows, the turret version would be the 14-tool, 300 mm machine; have Feeler confirm that reading.

Everything about the spindle is aimed at short cycles. 12,000 rpm is standard, with 15,000 and 20,000 rpm configurations optional. Feeler says the spindle reaches 12,000 rpm in just one second and 20,000 rpm in only 1.5 seconds, which matters more than top speed when a part has dozens of tapped holes and the spindle reverses at each one. Rapid traverse is 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) on all three axes.

Feeler also makes a durability claim for small drills: when machining micro holes as small as Ø0.75 mm, the machine can achieve more than 4,700 holes. Tool retention uses a fixed claw mechanism with a disc spring in place of a ball-type grip. The table carries 250 kg (551 lb). No spindle power is listed.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Tool-change time of 1.7 seconds with the arm-type ATC that holds 20 tools
  • Spindle reaches 12,000 rpm in one second, per Feeler
  • 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) rapids on X, Y and Z
  • Optional 15,000 and 20,000 rpm spindle configurations
  • Fixed claw tool clamping with a disc spring, which Feeler rates above ball-type systems for clamping efficiency

Limitations

  • Z travel is 300/400 mm depending on version, short for tall fixtures
  • Table load of 250 kg (551 lb)
  • No.30 taper restricts the machine to light milling
  • The table does not label which Z travel and tool count belong to the turret and which to the arm

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does Turret/Arm mean on the Feeler TC-20α?

The spec column is headed TC-20α Turret/Arm, and the tool row reads 14/20 with Z travel 300/400 mm. Feeler's text describes an arm-type ATC that holds 20 tools. The paired values appear to be turret first and arm second, but the page does not say so outright.

02 How fast is the tool change?

Feeler states a tool-change time of just 1.7 seconds for the arm-type ATC that holds 20 tools, with bidirectional random tool selection. No figure is given for the turret version.

03 What spindle speeds are available?

12,000 rpm as standard, with optional 15,000 and 20,000 rpm configurations. Feeler says the spindle reaches 12,000 rpm in just one second and 20,000 rpm in only 1.5 seconds. The taper is 7/24 No.30.

04 How large is the work area?

X travel is 510 mm (20.1 in) and Y travel 400 mm (15.7 in), over a 600 x 400 mm (23.6 x 15.7 in) table rated for 250 kg (551 lb). Z travel is listed as 300/400 mm (11.8/15.7 in).
