How much does the Feeler VDX-1300 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Feeler VDX-1300 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Large mold bases, bumper and trim tooling, long aerospace plates: these are the parts the Feeler VDX-1300 is sized for. It is the longest VDX, with 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of X travel over a 1,420 x 600 mm (55.9 x 23.6 in) table, and it keeps the 15,000 rpm direct-drive spindle of the series.
Y and Z are unchanged from the shorter models at 650 mm (25.6 in) and 635 mm (25.0 in). So is the table rating of 1,500 kg (3,307 lb). A longer table at the same rating means less allowable weight per unit of length, which is worth a moment's thought before a full-length steel mold base goes on. Cored-out bases and aluminium tooling plates stay well within it.
Long finishing passes are where the control matters. Feeler includes STC+ (Smooth Tolerance Control) on the VDX series, described as intelligent compensation that improves surface finish quality and reduces machining time. On a 1,300 mm sweep across a contoured surface, smoother motion shows up as fewer witness lines to polish out. The optional oil-air lubrication system is offered to extend spindle life, relevant when a spindle spends hours near top speed.
Rapid traverse is 36 m/min (1,417 ipm) on X and Y and 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) on Z. The magazine holds 24 tools and the taper is 7/24 No.40. If the 15,000 rpm spindle is not needed, the VMX-1300 covers the same X travel at 12,000 rpm with 610 mm of Y.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of X travel with a 15,000 rpm direct-drive spindle
- 650 mm (25.6 in) of Y travel, more than the 600 mm table depth
- STC+ (Smooth Tolerance Control) included for surface finish on long contoured passes
- Reinforced A-frame column base, per Feeler
- 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) table rating
Limitations
- Table load does not rise with length: 1,500 kg, as on the VDX-850
- A 24-tool magazine and No.40 taper limit roughing of large molds
- Y and Z are no larger than on the shorter VDX models
- Oil-air lubrication is optional and spindle power is not published

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Travels of 1,300 x 650 x 635 mm (51.2 x 25.6 x 25.0 in), a 1,420 x 600 mm table rated 1,500 kg (3,307 lb), a 15,000 rpm spindle with 7/24 taper No.40, rapids of 36/36/30 m/min and 24 tools.
02
Only in X travel and table length. The VDX-1100 has 1,100 mm of X and a 1,200 x 600 mm table. Everything else in Feeler's table, including Y, Z, load, spindle, rapids and tool count, is the same for both.
03
The VMX-1300 lists a 12,000 rpm spindle, 610 mm of Y, 600 mm of Z and a Z rapid of 24 m/min. The VDX-1300 lists 15,000 rpm, 650 mm of Y, 635 mm of Z and 30 m/min on Z, and Feeler describes the VDX series as designed specifically for high-speed mold machining.
04
Feeler offers an oil-air lubrication system as an option and says it provides timed and precise lubrication that extends spindle life. The page does not say what the standard arrangement is, so ask when specifying the machine for long high-speed runs.
