Feeler VMP-65 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Feeler VMP-65 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Feeler or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Top of the VMP series, the Feeler VMP-65 has 1,650 mm (65.0 in) of X travel and 800 mm (31.5 in) of both Y and Z. Its table measures 1,700 x 800 mm (66.9 x 31.5 in).

Odd as it may seem for the largest model, the VMP-65 is a 40-taper machine only. The header in Feeler's table reads VMP-65 (#40), the spindle row gives 10,000 rpm, and the magazine holds 22 tools. The No.50 alternative that the VMP-45 and VMP-50 offer is not listed here. So this is a big-envelope machine for moderate cutting loads, not a heavy roughing mill.

The table rating confirms it. 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) is the same figure as on the two models below, spread over a much larger surface. Large aluminium plates, vacuum fixtures, welded fabrications that need light machining, and big fixture plates loaded with many small parts all sit well inside that limit. A solid steel block sized to the table would not.

The 800 mm of Z is the feature to plan around. It allows tall weldments and deep boxes to pass under the spindle, and leaves working height above a large rotary or trunnion table. Rapids are 36 m/min (1,417 ipm) on X and Y and 24 m/min (945 ipm) on Z. Feeler describes the series as cast iron with an A-frame column and enlarged base, on hardened linear guides.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,650 x 800 x 800 mm travels, the largest envelope in the VMP series
  • 800 mm (31.5 in) of Z for tall weldments, boxes and trunnion setups
  • Y travel equals the 800 mm table depth
  • 10,000 rpm No.40 spindle keeps small-tool work possible on large parts

Limitations

  • No.40 taper only; the No.50 choice of the VMP-50 is not offered in the table
  • Table load is 1,500 kg (3,307 lb), no more than on the VMP-45
  • 22 tools for a machine of this size
  • Z rapid of 24 m/min (945 ipm) across an 800 mm stroke

Best For

Large aluminium plates and panels Tall fabrications and box-shaped parts needing 800 mm of Z Large fixture plates carrying many small components Light machining of weldments within 1,500 kg

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the travels of the Feeler VMP-65?

1,650 mm (65.0 in) in X, 800 mm (31.5 in) in Y and 800 mm (31.5 in) in Z. The table is 1,700 x 800 mm (66.9 x 31.5 in) with a maximum loading weight of 1,500 kg (3,307 lb).

02 Can the VMP-65 be ordered with a No.50 spindle?

Feeler's table does not list one. The column is headed VMP-65 (#40) and gives a 7/24 taper No.40 at 10,000 rpm, while the VMP-45 and VMP-50 columns are headed #40/50. Ask the maker if a No.50 spindle is needed on this frame.

03 How does it differ from the VMX-1650?

The VMX-1650 has the same travels, table and 1,500 kg rating, with a spindle listed at 12,000 rpm and a magazine of 24 tools. The VMP-65 is listed at 10,000 rpm and 22 tools. Rapid rates are 36/36/24 m/min on both.

04 What kind of guideways does it have?

The series description says the VMP machines are equipped with hardened linear guides and use low-friction Turcite B wear pads to enhance cutting rigidity and surface finish. There is no guideway row in the spec table for individual models.
