Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Emco UMILL 630 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Emco UMILL 630 is the smallest of Emco's universal machining centres for 5-axis simultaneous machining. Its swivel-rotary table measures 630x500 mm, is driven by torque motors with direct measuring systems, and swivels through +/- 100°. Linear travels are 500 mm (19.7 in), 460 mm (18.1 in) and 450 mm (17.7 in).
Torque motors and direct encoders on the rotary axes are what separate this machine from a 3+2 design. There is no worm gear to wear or wind up, so the table can follow a contour continuously, which is what impellers, blades and sculpted mould surfaces need. Emco fits linear scales in X, Y and Z as standard, and the table has a front support to hold it steady under load.
A motor spindle is the only type listed, in two speeds: the row reads 50-15000 / 24000 rpm with power of 26 / 46.5 kW and 110 Nm (81.1 lb-ft) of torque. Rapids are 50/50/50 m/min. Fast axes and a fast spindle belong together on a machine like this, since 5-axis toolpaths in light alloys are usually limited by how quickly the axes can follow.
The table carries 300 kg (661 lb). The tool changer holds 30 tools, optionally 60 or 90. The machine occupies 2,570 x 3,680 x 2,900 mm (101.2 x 144.9 x 114.2 in), weighs 6,800 kg (14,991 lb) and runs a Siemens or Heidenhain control.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 5-axis simultaneous machining with torque-motor swivel-rotary table
- Swivelling range of +/- 100° with direct measuring systems
- Motor spindle with 50-15000 / 24000 rpm
- Rapids of 50/50/50 m/min in X/Y/Z
- Standard linear scales in X-Y-Z
Limitations
- Table load is 300 kg (661 lb)
- Travels of 500 mm (19.7 in), 460 mm (18.1 in) and 450 mm (17.7 in) restrict part size
- Spindle torque is 110 Nm (81.1 lb-ft): a finishing and light-alloy spindle more than a roughing one
- 60 and 90-tool magazines are options

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Yes. Emco lists 5-axis simultaneous machining, with a swivel-rotary table driven by torque motors and fitted with direct measuring systems. The swivelling range is +/- 100° and the table measures 630x500 mm.
02
The motor spindle row reads 50-15000 / 24000 rpm, with drive power of 26 / 46.5 kW and a maximum torque of 110 Nm (81.1 lb-ft). The paired values are the two spindle versions Emco names: 15000 / 24000 rpm.
03
The tool changer has 30 stations as listed, with 60 or 90 optional. The table row reads 30 (60/90). Plan the magazine size around the longest unattended program, since 5-axis jobs tend to need more tools per part.
04
Both have a 630x500 mm table and the same linear travels. The Maxxmill 630 is built for 5-sided machining with rapids of 30/30/30 m/min and a 200 kg (441 lb) table load. The UMILL 630 adds simultaneous 5-axis motion, 50/50/50 m/min rapids and a 300 kg (661 lb) table load.
