Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Ecoca VB-1400 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Ecoca VB-1400 is where the VB series steps up to a BT-50 spindle. Travels are 1,400 mm (55.1 in) in X, 760 mm (29.9 in) in Y and 700 mm (27.6 in) in Z, the table is 1,500 x 650 mm (59.1 x 25.6 in), and the machine weighs 11,000 kg (24,250 lb).
Compare that with the VB-1200 and the jump is clear. The VB-1200 weighs 7,500 kg (16,534 lb) and carries 900 kg (1,984 lb) on its table. This one carries 1,600 kg (3,527 lb), and where the VB-1200 has 16 tools the magazine here holds 20. It is a different class of machine built on the same principles: four guide ways on the base, Turcite-B on the guide ways of all 3 axes, and box ways throughout.
The spindle specification needs careful reading. The taper is BT-50, but the speed and motor are those of the smaller BT-40 models, 8,000 rpm by belt drive and 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp). A 50-taper spindle brings a stiffer tool interface and room for larger cutters and longer boring bars. It does not by itself bring more power. Ecoca's table gives no torque figure and mentions no gearbox, so anyone planning heavy face milling should ask how much torque is available at low speed.
Rapid traverse is 20/20/15 m/min (787/787/591 ipm). The tool changer is an armless type, which on a 50-taper machine means the magazine has to carry heavy tools to the spindle, and tool weight limits are not published. Standard equipment includes spindle cooling, a screw conveyor, chip enclosure and guideway cover.

- 1,600 kg (3,527 lb) table load on a 1,500 x 650 mm (59.1 x 25.6 in) table
- 760 mm (29.9 in) Y travel and 700 mm (27.6 in) Z travel
- 20-tool magazine, against 16 on the VB-1200
- 11,000 kg (24,250 lb) box-way structure with Turcite-B coated guide ways
Limitations
- Motor is 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp), the same rating as the BT-40 models in the series
- No torque figure or gearbox is listed for the 50-taper spindle
- Armless tool changer; maximum tool weight and size are not published
- Z rapid of 15 m/min (591 ipm)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
A BT-50 taper spindle with belt drive, a top speed of 8,000 rpm and a motor listed as 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp). A spindle cooling system is a standard accessory. Torque is not stated in Ecoca's table.
02
X/Y/Z travels are 1,400 mm (55.1 in), 760 mm (29.9 in) and 700 mm (27.6 in). The table is 1,500 x 650 mm (59.1 x 25.6 in) and the maximum table load is 1,600 kg (3,527 lb).
03
The VB-1200 is a BT-40 machine with 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of X, 610 mm (24.0 in) of Y and Z, 16 tools and a 900 kg (1,984 lb) table load. The VB-1400 has BT-50, longer travels in every axis, 20 tools and nearly twice the table load. The motor and 8,000 rpm speed are unchanged.
04
20, in an armless type ATC. Ecoca does not list tool change time, maximum tool diameter or maximum tool weight, which are worth requesting on a BT-50 machine where tools can be heavy.
