How much does the Ecoca VB-2000 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Ecoca VB-2000 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
At 17,200 kg (37,919 lb), the Ecoca VB-2000 is the heaviest machining center Ecoca lists and the longest: 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of X travel over a 2,100 x 850 mm (82.7 x 33.5 in) table that takes 3,000 kg (6,614 lb). Y travel is 810 mm (31.9 in) and Z travel 700 mm (27.6 in).
A fixed-column, moving-table VMC of this length is a way to machine long parts without buying a bridge mill. Machine beds, press plates, long weldments and rows of smaller parts on a common fixture all fit. The table is the moving mass, and with 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) on it there is a lot to accelerate. That is reflected in the rapid traverse rate, which Ecoca gives as 15/15/15 m/min (591/591/591 ipm), the lowest in the VB table; the VB-1400 is listed at 20/20/15 m/min (787/787/591 ipm).
Ecoca's description of the series fits this model especially well. Four guide ways on the base distribute heavy loading evenly, which on a long saddle keeps the table supported toward the ends of its stroke. The guide ways of all 3 axes are coated with Turcite-B, and the ball screws are pre-loaded and pre-tensioned.
The spindle does not grow with the machine. It is the BT-50, 8,000 rpm belt-drive unit of the VB-1400 and VB-1600, with a 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) motor and a 20-tool armless changer. On a part two metres long, cycle time may depend more on that spindle than on axis speed, so check the torque it offers. Foundation and access for a machine of this weight should be planned before ordering.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 2,000 mm (78.7 in) X travel on a 2,100 x 850 mm (82.7 x 33.5 in) table
- 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) table load, the highest in Ecoca's VMC range
- 17,200 kg (37,919 lb) box-way structure with four guide ways on the base
- BT-50 spindle, 20 tools and a standard spindle cooling system
Limitations
- Rapid traverse is 15/15/15 m/min (591/591/591 ipm), the slowest of the VB series
- Spindle motor remains 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) on the largest machine
- Y travel of 810 mm (31.9 in) is no wider than on the VB-1600
- Armless ATC and no published tool weight limit; heavy foundation needed

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The table is 2,100 x 850 mm (82.7 x 33.5 in) with a maximum load of 3,000 kg (6,614 lb). Travels are 2,000 mm (78.7 in) in X, 810 mm (31.9 in) in Y and 700 mm (27.6 in) in Z.
02
15/15/15 m/min (591/591/591 ipm) for X, Y and Z. That is slower than the 20/20/15 m/min (787/787/591 ipm) listed for the VB-1400, which is consistent with the heavier table and load of this model.
03
A BT-50 taper spindle, belt driven, with a top speed of 8,000 rpm and a spindle motor listed as 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp). The table for the VB series shows no other spindle or motor for this size.
04
The net machine weight is 17,200 kg (37,919 lb). The VB-1600 weighs 12,500 kg (27,557 lb). Ecoca publishes no footprint on the page, so ask for the foundation and layout drawings.
