Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Ecoca MT-312 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A 12 in (305 mm) chuck at 3,200 rpm defines the Ecoca MT-312. Everything else in its column is shared with the 10 in MT-310: 600 mm (23.6 in) of swing over the bed, 400 mm (15.7 in) over the cross slide, a 450 mm (17.7 in) maximum turning diameter, 12 tool stations and a 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) spindle motor.
Who needs the larger chuck on the same frame? Mainly shops whose parts fill the envelope. A ring or housing approaching 450 mm (17.7 in) is better held by 12 in jaws, and thin-walled work distorts less when gripped on a larger diameter with lower clamping pressure. The trade is speed. At 3,200 rpm small diameters can't always reach the surface speed that carbide wants, so bar-sized work is the MT-310's territory.
Because the motor is unchanged while the chuck grows, think about how the power is used. Large-diameter cuts need torque at low rpm, and Ecoca's table gives no torque figure or gear range for this machine. If heavy roughing at big diameters is the plan, ask for the spindle's power and torque chart. The MT-412 offers the same chuck size and speed with an 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp) motor.
Three bed lengths give 480 / 730 / 980 mm (18.9 / 28.7 / 38.6 in) between chuck and tailstock, with net weights of 5,100 / 5,500 / 6,000 kg (11,243 / 12,125 / 13,228 lb). The slant bed is set at 30 degree, guideways are HARD RAIL, and the turret can be ordered as a servo or a hydraulic unit.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 12 in (305 mm) chuck on a 600 mm (23.6 in) swing frame
- 450 mm (17.7 in) maximum turning diameter with 12 stations
- Servo turret or hydraulic turret, with a large disc for tool set up
- Hydraulic tailstock and live center are standard for the 730 mm (28.7 in) and 980 mm (38.6 in) beds as well as the short one
Limitations
- 3,200 rpm, where the MT-310 reaches 4,200 rpm
- The 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) motor is no larger than on the MT-310, and no torque figure is published
- Maximum turning length is 980 mm (38.6 in)
- No driven tools; the MT-312MC covers milling

Frequently Asked Questions
01
For the chuck. The MT-312 has a 12 in (305 mm) chuck and the MT-310 a 10 in (254 mm) chuck, on the same frame with the same 450 mm (17.7 in) turning diameter. The larger chuck suits bigger and heavier workpieces; the MT-310 answers with 4,200 rpm against 3,200 rpm.
02
The spindle drive motor is listed as 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) and the spindle speed as 3,200 rpm. Ecoca does not publish torque or say whether a gearbox is fitted, so request the power chart if the work is heavy roughing at large diameters.
03
Both have a 12 in (305 mm) chuck, 3,200 rpm and 12 stations. The MT-412 is larger: 690 mm (27.2 in) swing, 510 mm (20.1 in) turning diameter, an 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp) motor and turning lengths up to 2,980 mm (117.3 in). The MT-312 swings 600 mm (23.6 in) and stops at 980 mm (38.6 in).
04
Turning lengths are 480 / 730 / 980 mm (18.9 / 28.7 / 38.6 in). Net weights follow as 5,100 / 5,500 / 6,000 kg (11,243 / 12,125 / 13,228 lb). A hydraulic tailstock and live center are standard on all of them.
