Ecoca MT-310 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Ecoca MT-310 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Ecoca or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Ecoca MT-310 is a mid-size slant-bed lathe with a 10 in (254 mm) chuck, a 600 mm (23.6 in) swing over the bed and a maximum turning diameter of 450 mm (17.7 in). Ecoca's own summary is that the 600mm swing comes with Z travel up to 1 meter, providing flexibility in turning length, and the table backs that with three turning lengths: 480 / 730 / 980 mm (18.9 / 28.7 / 38.6 in).

Its spindle runs to 4,200 rpm on a 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) motor. That is a general-purpose rating. It is enough for steady roughing of steel in the diameters a 10 in chuck holds, and fast enough to finish smaller diameters at a sensible surface speed. Shops that turn mostly large rings and want a bigger grip should look at the MT-312, which is the same machine with a 12 in (305 mm) chuck and 3,200 rpm.

The turret is worth a question at ordering time. Ecoca offers a servo turret or a hydraulic turret as alternatives and fits a large disc for easy tool set up. A servo turret indexes faster and can take the shortest path between stations; a hydraulic one is simpler. All versions carry 12 stations.

Box ways, printed as HARD RAIL, guide both axes on a 30 degree slant bed. The net weight is 5,100 / 5,500 / 6,000 kg (11,243 / 12,125 / 13,228 lb) for the three lengths. Between the 380 mm (15.0 in) turning diameter of the MT-210 and the 510 mm (20.1 in) of the MT-412, this is the middle step of the range.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 450 mm (17.7 in) maximum turning diameter with a 600 mm (23.6 in) swing over the bed
  • Choice of servo turret or hydraulic turret, each with 12 stations and a large disc
  • Three turning lengths, 480 / 730 / 980 mm (18.9 / 28.7 / 38.6 in)
  • 4,200 rpm with a 10 in (254 mm) chuck, faster than the 3,200 rpm of the MT-312
  • Hydraulic tailstock, live center, coolant system and heat exchanger are standard accessories

Limitations

  • 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) motor is smaller than the 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp) of the MT-210
  • Two-axis only; milling needs the MT-310MC
  • Longest turning length is 980 mm (38.6 in); work beyond that moves to the MT-412
  • Table omits spindle bore, bar capacity and rapid traverse

Best For

General turning of parts up to 450 mm (17.7 in) in diameter Job shops that need one lathe for both chuck and shaft work Shafts up to 980 mm (38.6 in) with tailstock support

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the main capacities of the Ecoca MT-310?

Swing over the bed is 600 mm (23.6 in), swing over the cross slide 400 mm (15.7 in) and maximum turning diameter 450 mm (17.7 in). Turning length is 480, 730 or 980 mm (18.9, 28.7 or 38.6 in) depending on the bed. The chuck is 10 in (254 mm).

02 Which turret does the MT-310 have?

Ecoca offers a servo turret or a hydraulic turret as an alternative choice, with a large disc for easy tool set up. The table lists 12 tool stations. Decide between the two types when specifying the machine, since the page does not name one as the default.

03 How does the MT-310 differ from the MT-312?

Only in chuck size and spindle speed. The MT-310 has a 10 in (254 mm) chuck and 4,200 rpm, the MT-312 a 12 in (305 mm) chuck and 3,200 rpm. Both list the 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) motor, the 450 mm (17.7 in) turning diameter and the same lengths and weights.

04 How much floor loading should I plan for with the MT-310?

The net weights are 5,100, 5,500 and 6,000 kg (11,243, 12,125 and 13,228 lb) for the three bed lengths. Ecoca's table gives no footprint dimensions, so ask for the layout drawing along with the foundation requirements.
