Overview
The DN Solutions LYNX 2100 LB combines the 8-inch chuck of the LYNX 2100 B with the extended bed of the L series, giving you both larger workholding and the Z travel to handle longer components. It's arguably the most versatile LYNX 2100 variant for general-purpose job shop work where part sizes vary from day to day.
The spindle delivers 15 kW (20 hp) with 169 N-m (125 ft-lb) of torque at up to 4,500 RPM. Max turning diameter is 350 mm (14 in) and max turning length is 550 mm (22 in). You've got 205 mm of X travel and 560 mm of Z travel, with rapids at 30/36 m/min. The 12-station turret handles the tool variety needed for multi-operation parts.
The machine weighs 3,400 kg (7,496 lb) on a 2,570 mm x 1,595 mm footprint. It's a touch longer than the LA at 2,570 mm (vs 2,540 mm) to accommodate the larger spindle assembly. Same FANUC control, same programming, same operator experience as every other LYNX 2100.
The 8-inch chuck and 550 mm turning length combination covers an enormous range of parts. You can grip 3-inch bar stock and turn it 22 inches long, or chuck a 12-inch diameter flange and face it. That flexibility is why the LB configuration tends to be the default recommendation for shops that can't predict what's coming through the door next week.
Linear guide construction keeps the machine fast and accurate. For heavier interrupted cuts where rigidity matters more than speed, the box-way PUMA series is still the better tool. But for the 80% of job shop work that involves clean cuts at moderate feeds, the LYNX 2100 LB does everything you need without the weight or cost premium of a box-way machine.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 8-inch chuck and 550 mm turning length cover the widest range of part sizes in the LYNX 2100 family
- 169 N-m (125 ft-lb) of spindle torque handles medium-duty cuts in steel and alloys at production feeds
- 12-station turret with fast indexing supports complex multi-tool programs without tool capacity limitations
- 30/36 m/min rapids keep positioning fast across the extended Z-axis travel range
- Compact 2,570 mm footprint doesn't demand significantly more floor space than the short-bed variants
- Same FANUC control and programming as all LYNX 2100 models — zero learning curve if you've run any of them
Limitations
- 4,500 RPM max spindle speed isn't ideal for small-diameter high-speed aluminum work — the LA's 6,000 RPM is better there
- No live tooling, Y-axis, or sub-spindle limits you to 2-axis turning operations only
- Linear guides sacrifice some rigidity on heavy interrupted cuts versus box-way PUMA machines
- 20 hp spindle runs out of steam on aggressive roughing of large-diameter stainless or high-alloy steels
- At 3,400 kg, it's still a light machine — not the choice for sustained heavy-duty production cutting

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The LB adds 220 mm of Z-axis travel (560 mm vs 340 mm), extending max turning length from 330 mm to 550 mm. If you ever turn parts longer than 13 inches, the LB eliminates that limitation. The cost premium is modest and the footprint increase is minimal.
02
For shops that don't know exactly what they'll be turning next month, yes. The 8-inch chuck handles a wide range of diameters, the 550 mm turning length covers short and medium parts, and the 12-station turret gives enough tool capacity. It's the safest bet for unpredictable job mixes.
03
The PUMA 2600 has a 10-inch chuck, 30+ kW spindle, box-way construction, and significantly more torque. It's a bigger, heavier, more rigid machine for tougher work. The LYNX 2100 LB is lighter, faster on rapids, and cheaper — better for lighter-duty work where speed and accuracy trump raw cutting power.
04
Yes, bar feeder integration is standard. The 8-inch chuck spindle bore accommodates bar stock up to approximately 65 mm diameter. The extended Z travel actually helps with bar feeding since you have more room for part-off and longer workpiece lengths.
