Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Ecoca MT-208MC that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A 6,000 rpm milling spindle is the reason to look at the Ecoca MT-208MC. It is the driven-tool version of the MT-208, an 8 in (203 mm) chuck slant-bed lathe, and no MC model in Ecoca's MT tables is given a faster milling speed. The main spindle runs to 4,800 rpm on an 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp) motor.
Fast rotary tools matter on small features. Cross holes of a few millimetres, keyways cut with small end mills and light engraving all want surface speed that a slow driven station can't deliver. On a machine whose chuck already points it toward smaller parts, the pairing makes sense.
The cost of the MC turret is diameter. Maximum turning diameter is 250 mm (9.8 in), where the MT-208 turns 380 mm (15.0 in). Turning lengths are unchanged at 500 / 750 / 1,000 mm (19.7 / 29.5 / 39.4 in), and the turret carries 12 tools against 10. Ecoca gives no power or torque for the milling drive and does not describe the C axis, so heavy milling should not be assumed.
One line on the accessories list deserves attention: tool holders and sleeves are optional for living tool. Budget for the driven holders the parts need. The rest of the standard list, including the hydraulic chuck, tailstock, coolant and lubrication systems, is the same as on the two-axis machine. Guideways are HARD RAIL, and the weight by bed length is 4,000 / 4,900 / 5,500 kg (8,818 / 10,802 / 12,125 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Milling spindle speed of 6,000 rpm, higher than the 5,000 rpm of the MT-310MC
- 12 tool stations, compared with 10 on the MT-208
- Main spindle keeps 4,800 rpm and the 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp) motor
- Available in three turning lengths up to 1,000 mm (39.4 in)
Limitations
- Maximum turning diameter is 250 mm (9.8 in), down from 380 mm (15.0 in) on the MT-208
- Tool holders and sleeves for living tool are optional, not standard
- No milling power, torque or C-axis data in Ecoca's table
- No Y axis is listed, so milled features are limited to what X, Z and spindle rotation can reach

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The milling spindle speed is listed as 6,000 rpm. Ecoca does not publish the milling motor power or torque for this model, so use the speed figure for tool selection and ask for the drive rating if the job involves anything heavier than drilling and light milling.
02
Turning diameter. The MT-208MC is limited to 250 mm (9.8 in) and the MT-208 reaches 380 mm (15.0 in). In return the MC version has a 6,000 rpm milling spindle and 12 tool stations instead of 10. Chuck size, spindle speed, motor and turning lengths match.
03
No. The accessories list for the series states that tool holders and sleeves are optional for living tool. The standard items are the static ones: O.D. tool holder, facing tool holder, boring bar holder and sleeves, and drill sleeves.
04
Ecoca lists net weights of 4,000 / 4,900 / 5,500 kg (8,818 / 10,802 / 12,125 lb), in step with the three turning lengths of 500 / 750 / 1,000 mm (19.7 / 29.5 / 39.4 in). The table shows the same weights for the MC and the two-axis columns.
