Ecoca MT-108 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Ecoca MT-108 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Ecoca or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Ecoca MT-108 is the smallest slant-bed turning center in Ecoca's MT range: an 8 in (203 mm) chuck machine with a 380 mm (15.0 in) maximum turning diameter, 260 mm (10.2 in) of turning length and a turret with 10 stations. Those proportions describe a chucker. The part is short and comparatively wide, it sits in the jaws, and the hydraulic tailstock that Ecoca lists among the standard accessories is there for the occasional shaft, not as the main way of working.

Swing over the bed is 570 mm (22.4 in) and swing over the cross slide is 345 mm (13.6 in), so the casting is generous for the chuck it carries. The spindle motor is listed as 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp) and the top speed as 4,500 rpm. Ecoca does not say which of the two power figures is the continuous rating, and the table gives no torque, spindle bore or bar capacity. Anyone planning bar work should ask for those numbers first.

The construction notes are short but specific. The bed is slanted at 30° for chip evacuation and the slides run on box ways, which the table calls HARD RAIL. Ecoca says the box way design does without a wedge wear plate and is paired with ball screws of C3 grade. Box ways give up some traverse speed for damping in the cut, which suits interrupted cuts and tougher materials on a machine that weighs 3,350 kg (7,385 lb).

Ecoca lists two close relatives. The MT-108M carries 12 stations inside a smaller envelope of 280 mm (11.0 in) by 228 mm (9.0 in), and the MT-108A puts a robot arm and material stock on the same turning specification. The plain MT-108 is the one to pick when the full turning diameter matters more than extra stations or unattended loading.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 380 mm (15.0 in) maximum turning diameter on an 8 in (203 mm) chuck machine, against 280 mm (11.0 in) on the MT-108M
  • Box way slides (HARD RAIL in Ecoca's table) built without a wedge wear plate and driven by C3 grade ball screws
  • 30° slant bed, which Ecoca credits with good chip evacuation
  • Hydraulic 3-jaw chuck, hydraulic tailstock, coolant system, auto lubrication and heat exchanger are all on the standard accessories list
  • 4,500 rpm spindle in a machine of 3,350 kg (7,385 lb)

Limitations

  • Turning length stops at 260 mm (10.2 in); longer parts belong on a longer-bed MT model
  • The turret has 10 stations, where the MT-108M has 12
  • Ecoca's table states no spindle bore, bar capacity, rapid traverse rate or control for this model
  • The motor is given only as 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp), with no torque figure and no duty rating attached

Best For

Chucking work up to 380 mm (15.0 in) in diameter Flanges, discs and rings shorter than 260 mm (10.2 in) Interrupted cuts that benefit from box way damping Second-operation turning on an 8 in (203 mm) chuck

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What size of part fits the Ecoca MT-108?

The maximum turning diameter is 380 mm (15.0 in) and the maximum turning length is 260 mm (10.2 in). Swing over the bed is 570 mm (22.4 in) and swing over the cross slide 345 mm (13.6 in). The chuck is an 8 in (203 mm) hydraulic 3-jaw unit, supplied as standard with soft jaws.

02 What are the spindle speed and power of the MT-108?

Ecoca lists a spindle drive motor of 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp) and a spindle speed of 4,500 rpm. The table does not explain the two power figures and gives no torque curve, so ask Ecoca which is the continuous rating if the work involves long roughing cuts.

03 How is the MT-108 different from the MT-108M and the MT-108A?

The MT-108M has 12 turret stations and a smaller envelope, 280 mm (11.0 in) in diameter and 228 mm (9.0 in) in length. The MT-108A keeps the MT-108 turning figures and adds a robot arm with a material stock, which raises the weight to 3,510 kg (7,738 lb). The MT-108 itself has 10 stations and weighs 3,350 kg (7,385 lb).

04 What does the MT-108 come with as standard?

The standard accessories list covers a 3-jaw hydraulic chuck with soft jaws, hydraulic tailstock and live center, hydraulic and coolant systems, auto lubrication, heat exchanger, work light, MPG hand wheel, a foot switch for chuck clamping, O.D., facing and boring bar holders with sleeves, leveling pads and a tool box.
