How much does the Ecoca SL-10 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Ecoca SL-10 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Ecoca SL-10 fits a 10 in (254 mm) chuck to the SL linear-guide platform. Its spindle runs to 4,200 rpm with an 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) motor, the turning diameter is 320 mm (12.6 in), and the turning length is 460 mm (18.1 in).
Notice how little the frame changes from the SL-8. The swing over the bed is still 420 mm (16.5 in), the turning diameter is the same, and the motor is the same. The larger chuck takes a little length, 460 mm (18.1 in) where the SL-8 has 480 mm (18.9 in), and adds weight, 3,450 kg (7,606 lb) in total. What it buys is a bigger grip on the part and, on most chucks of this size, a larger through-hole, though Ecoca's table does not print a spindle bore or bar capacity for either model.
So who should take the SL-10? A shop whose parts are chucked on diameters above what smaller jaws hold comfortably, or whose bar stock is too large for the smaller spindle. If neither applies, the SL-8 is faster at the top end.
Ecoca describes three features of the series. The slant design is 30 degree, for turning stability and easy chip removal. Both axes ride on linear guideways. And the spindle and axis servo motors are FANUC β series. With 10 stations on the turret and a hydraulic tailstock in the standard accessories, the SL-10 is a straightforward two-axis production lathe for medium-duty work.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 10 in (254 mm) chuck on a machine of only 3,450 kg (7,606 lb)
- Linear guideways on both axes for quick positioning
- FANUC β series spindle and axial servo motors named in Ecoca's description
- Hydraulic tailstock, live center and heat exchanger on the standard accessories list
Limitations
- Turning diameter of 320 mm (12.6 in) is modest for a 10 in (254 mm) chuck
- Turning length is 460 mm (18.1 in), shorter than the 480 mm (18.9 in) of the SL-8
- 4,200 rpm, where the SL-8 reaches 4,500 rpm
- Spindle bore and bar capacity are not published; the turret has 10 stations

Frequently Asked Questions
01
A 10 in (254 mm) chuck, 4,200 rpm spindle speed, 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) spindle drive motor, 320 mm (12.6 in) maximum turning diameter, 460 mm (18.1 in) maximum turning length, 10 tool stations and a net weight of 3,450 kg (7,606 lb).
02
Only in the chuck. Swing over the bed is 420 mm (16.5 in) and turning diameter 320 mm (12.6 in) on both. The SL-10 has a 10 in (254 mm) chuck, 4,200 rpm and 460 mm (18.1 in) of length. The SL-8 has an 8 in (203 mm) chuck, 4,500 rpm and 480 mm (18.9 in).
03
Both have a 10 in (254 mm) chuck at 4,200 rpm. The SL-10 uses linear guideways and an 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) motor, and turns 320 mm (12.6 in). The MT-210 is listed with HARD RAIL guideways and an 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp) motor, and turns 380 mm (15.0 in) in lengths up to 1,000 mm (39.4 in).
04
Yes, a hydraulic tailstock and a live center are on the standard accessories list. The same list includes a 3-jaw hydraulic chuck, soft jaw, coolant system, auto lubrication system, MPG hand wheel and a foot switch for chuck clamp.
