Overview

Six metres of bed with moderate force: the Durma AD-S 60220 is a 220 ton hydraulic press brake with a 6,050 mm (238.2 in) bending length. It is the lighter of the two six-metre AD-S models and is meant for long sections in sheet and thin plate.

Typical parts are lighting and signal poles, long trays, crane rail covers, truck side rails and architectural profiles. For these the force per metre is modest and the difficulty lies elsewhere, in keeping the angle constant from one end to the other.

That is why crowning deserves attention on this model. Durma's standard is a manual crowning system. On a 6,050 mm (238.2 in) bed, the CNC-controlled motorized crowning option and the laser angle measurement system are easier to justify than on a short machine. The frame opens 5,100 mm (200.8 in) between the columns. Stroke is 265 mm (10.4 in), daylight 530 mm (20.9 in), throat 450 mm (17.7 in). The table is 1,050 mm (41.3 in) high and comes 154 mm (6.1 in) or 300 mm (11.8 in) wide.

A 22 kW (29.5 hp) motor and a 250 L tank give 140 mm/sec in rapid, 10 mm/sec in work and 120 mm/sec in return. The back gauge has 750 mm (29.5 in) of standard X travel at 350 mm/sec, and optional Z fingers cover 4,400 mm (173.2 in).

The machine is 7,500 mm (295.3 in) long and weighs 20,800 kg (45,855 lb). It is only 1,770 mm (69.7 in) wide, but the hall needs free length at both ends to load six-metre blanks.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 6,050 mm (238.2 in) bending length with 5,100 mm (200.8 in) between the columns
  • Working speed of 10 mm/sec, faster in the bend than the AD-S 60400
  • 22 kW (29.5 hp) motor and a 250 L tank on a six-metre bed
  • Z working distance of 4,400 mm (173.2 in) with the optional fingers
  • Table width of 154 mm (6.1 in) or 300 mm (11.8 in)

Limitations

  • 220 ton over 6,050 mm (238.2 in) is not enough for thick plate at full length
  • Manual crowning is standard on a six-metre bed
  • Table height of 1,050 mm (41.3 in)
  • 7,500 mm (295.3 in) long, plus loading space at the ends
  • X axis speed is 350 mm/sec, lower than on the AD-S 40220

Best For

Poles, masts and long profiles in sheet and thin plate Truck and trailer side rails up to 6,050 mm (238.2 in) Architectural and facade sections Two operators running short parts at separate stations on one bed

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the AD-S 60220 used for?

Long parts that need length more than force. Its bending length is 6,050 mm (238.2 in) and its force 220 ton. Durma lists the same force on shorter beds, down to the AD-S 30220 with its 3,050 mm (120.1 in) bending length, so this model is chosen for the length.

02 How does the AD-S 60220 compare with the AD-S 60400?

Bed length and column spacing are the same. The AD-S 60400 has 400 ton, a 510 mm (20.1 in) throat and weighs 34,600 kg (76,279 lb). The AD-S 60220 weighs 20,800 kg (45,855 lb), has a 450 mm (17.7 in) throat and bends at 10 mm/sec.

03 How is angle consistency handled on the long bed of the AD-S 60220?

The standard machine has manual crowning and linear scales with a Y axis precision of 0.01 mm. Durma offers CNC control motorized crowning and the Durma Laser Angle Measurement (DAM) as options, and states that crowning eliminates the need for shimming.

04 What are the dimensions and weight of the AD-S 60220?

Length 7,500 mm (295.3 in), width 1,770 mm (69.7 in), height 3,350 mm (131.9 in). The approximate weight is 20,800 kg (45,855 lb) and the table height 1,050 mm (41.3 in).
