Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Danobat ID-300 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Danobat ID-300 is the smallest machine in the Overbeck ID/IED series, an internal and external grinder for chucked parts up to 215 mm (8.46 in) of swing. It grinds bores up to 200 mm (7.87 in) in diameter and 100 mm (3.94 in) deep, and outside diameters up to 215 mm (8.46 in) over a length of 100 mm (3.94 in). Danobat describes the series as designed primarily for ID, OD and face grinding, with non-round, thread, taper and jig grinding available when needed.
Short, stiff parts are what the envelope is drawn for. A workpiece with its clamping may be 250 mm (9.84 in) long and weigh 80 kg (176 lb), a limit the table pairs with a figure of 100 Nm. X travel is 400 mm (15.75 in) and Z travel 300 mm (11.81 in). That X stroke is long for the part size because the wheels sit on a direct driven spindle turret with a 300° swivelling range, which carries up to 4 spindles and one measuring probe and has to index each of them to the bore.
The structure follows the rest of the Overbeck range: a natural granite base, linear motors on the axes, a direct-drive workhead and grinding spindles with integrated motors. Programming is done in DoGrind+, where profiles are entered directly on the control and assistants cover thread, non-round, jig and taper cycles.
The machine stands 215 x 210 x 220 cm (84.65 x 82.68 x 86.61 in) as height x width x depth. If the bore is deeper than 100 mm (3.94 in) or the part swings more than 215 mm (8.46 in), the ID-500 is the next step, with a 200 mm (7.87 in) grinding length inside a 560 mm (22.05 in) swing.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Bores to 200 mm (7.87 in) and outside diameters to 215 mm (8.46 in) are ground in one clamping on the same machine
- Direct driven spindle turret with a 300° swivelling range holds up to 4 spindles and one measuring probe
- Natural granite base and linear motors, which Danobat lists as having no wear parts and zero backlash
- Compact installation: 215 x 210 x 220 cm (84.65 x 82.68 x 86.61 in), height x width x depth
- DoGrind+ programs profiles on the control, with assistants for thread, non-round, jig and taper grinding
Limitations
- Internal and external grinding lengths both stop at 100 mm (3.94 in), so long bores and sleeves are out of range
- Workpiece and clamping together are limited to 80 kg (176 lb), listed with 100 Nm
- Swing is 215 mm (8.46 in); larger rings need the 560 mm (22.05 in) swing of the ID-500
- The table gives no spindle speeds, powers or wheel sizes, so the grinding spindles have to be specified with Danobat

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The swing diameter is 215 mm (8.46 in) and the workpiece with its clamping system may be 250 mm (9.84 in) long. Internal grinding reaches a diameter of 200 mm (7.87 in) and a length of 100 mm (3.94 in). External grinding covers 215 mm (8.46 in) in diameter over 100 mm (3.94 in). The weight limit including clamping is 80 kg (176 lb), listed together with 100 Nm.
02
Danobat describes the spindle turret of the ID/IED series as direct driven, with a 300° swivelling range and capacity for up to 4 spindles and one measuring probe. The turret is listed under the customisation choices, so the number and type of spindles is set when the machine is ordered.
03
Capacity. The ID-500 grinds bores to 300 mm (11.81 in) and 200 mm (7.87 in) deep inside a 560 mm (22.05 in) swing, and it travels 450 mm (17.72 in) in X and 485 mm (19.09 in) in Z. The ID-300 stops at a 200 mm (7.87 in) bore, 100 mm (3.94 in) of grinding length and a 215 mm (8.46 in) swing, in a machine 210 cm wide against the 275 cm of the ID-500.
04
A natural granite base, which Danobat credits with thermal stability and vibration damping. The axes run on linear motors with active cooling, the workhead is direct driven and built in-house, and the grinding spindles have integrated motors. Clamping options listed for the series include three jaw and magnetic chucks, a shoe system, a steady rest and a tailstock.
05
Yes. Danobat states that robotic, gantry or hybrid automation integrates in the ID/IED series, and presents the series as ready for high production and large series. Measuring options listed are a touch probe, in-process measuring, post-process measuring and a tool measuring device, which is what an unattended cell relies on to hold size.
