We do not have a price for the CMS Kyros that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.

CMS Kyros — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the CMS Kyros that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from CMS or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The CMS Kyros is a 5-axis high-speed machining center with a monobloc structure, an X-axis stroke of 2,000 mm (79 in) and a Y-axis stroke of 2,600 mm (102 in). CMS presents it as a new machine tool, and its page is short: one table of strokes and speeds and a handful of statements about the structure.

The layout is unusual in that Y is the longer axis. A part up to 2,600 mm (102 in) deep fits on a machine whose width is set by a 2,000 mm (79 in) X stroke, which helps where the available floor is narrow. CMS states that the monobloc design does not require special foundations, so the machine can be placed and started without civil works.

Both rotary axes are limited. The A axis swings +/-110° and the C axis turns +/-300°, each at 9000°/min. That A range lets the tool pass beyond horizontal, enough for side walls and moderate undercuts, while the C limit means the head has to unwind on paths that keep circling a part. Linear speeds are 50 m/min in X and Y and 40 m/min in Z.

Two statements hint at the intended work. CMS describes the worktable as having a high load capacity for heavy industrial applications and large components, and offers the machine with a cutting fluid system so it can adapt to different materials. No spindle, tool changer, table size or weight is published, and the Z stroke has to be confirmed as well, so all of those belong in the quotation.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Y-axis stroke of 2,600 mm (102 in) on a machine with a 2,000 mm (79 in) X stroke
  • Monobloc structure that does not require special foundations, according to CMS
  • A axis of +/-110° and C axis of +/-300°, both at 9000°/min
  • Available with a cutting fluid system for different materials

Limitations

  • C axis is limited to +/-300°, so it is not continuous
  • Z-axis speed of 40 m/min is lower than the 50 m/min of X and Y
  • CMS publishes no spindle power, speed, taper or tool changer data for this model
  • No table size, load figure or machine weight is listed

Best For

5-axis machining of large components where floor width is limited Shops that want a monobloc machine without special foundations Mixed materials, with the optional cutting fluid system

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the axis strokes of the CMS Kyros?

CMS lists an X-axis stroke of 2,000 mm (79 in) and a Y-axis stroke of 2,600 mm (102 in). The A axis has a stroke of +/-110° and the C axis +/-300°. Confirm the Z stroke with CMS before ordering.

02 How fast are the axes?

The X and Y axes move at 50 m/min and the Z axis at 40 m/min. Both rotary axes, A and C, are listed at 9000°/min.

03 Does the Kyros need a special foundation?

CMS states that the monobloc structure design minimizes floor space and does not require special foundations, which makes installation and start-up easy.

04 Can the Kyros cut with coolant?

CMS says the machine is also available with a cutting fluid system, for versatility in production processes and to adapt to different materials and operating conditions. It is described as an available version, not as standard equipment.
