CMS VM 30K — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the CMS VM 30K that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from CMS or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The CMS VM 30K is a 5-axis vertical machining center that CMS builds for steel as well as aluminum, light alloys and composites. Machine weight is 32,000 kg (70,547 lb), and the travels of the monobloc version are 2,200 mm (86.6 in) in X, 3,000 mm (118.1 in) in Y and 1,300 mm (51.2 in) in Z.

CMS names mold making, aeronautical and automotive parts as the target, with roughing through to finishing of medium-large components on one machine. The monobloc version has an integrated table with a load capacity of 10000 kg/m2 and stands on levelling devices, so CMS says no heavy-duty foundation is needed. An open-frame version, the vm 30 OF, extends X to 4,000 mm (157.5 in) or 6,000 mm (236.2 in) with the same Y and Z.

Three machining units are offered. TORQUE 5 rotates ± 300° in C and ± 110° in A with a blocking torque of 1000 / 1000 Nm. TILT G and TILT M both reach ± 360° and ± 120°, and their blocking torques rise to 3000 / 3000 Nm and 4000 / 4000 Nm. Positioning precision of the rotary axes tightens in the same order, from ± 6 arcsec to ± 2.5 arcsec and ± 2 arcsec.

Spindle choice follows the head. TILT M takes the widest set, including a 47 kW, 150 Nm unit at 15000 rpm on HSK 100A and a 73 kW unit at 28000 rpm on HSK 63A. CMS pairs this head with a 70 bar pump for internal cutting fluid, for deep drilling and heavy stock removal. On TORQUE 5 the options are 32 kW at 24000 rpm or 31 kW, 100 Nm at 15000 rpm.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the difference between the vm 30 K and the vm 30 OF?

The vm 30 K is the monobloc version, with an X stroke of 2,200 mm (86.6 in). The vm 30 OF is the open-frame version and is listed with X strokes of 2,200 mm (86.6 in), 4,000 mm (157.5 in) or 6,000 mm (236.2 in). Y is 3,000 mm (118.1 in) and Z is 1,300 mm (51.2 in) on both.

02 Which machining heads are available?

TORQUE 5, TILT G and TILT M. TORQUE 5 has rotations of ± 300° in C and ± 110° in A. TILT G and TILT M have ± 360° and ± 120°. Blocking torque is 1000 / 1000 Nm, 3000 / 3000 Nm and 4000 / 4000 Nm respectively.

03 What spindles can the VM 30K carry?

For TILT M the table lists 42 kW units at 24000 rpm, a 30 kW, 95 Nm unit at 22000 rpm, a 47 kW, 150 Nm unit at 15000 rpm on HSK 100A and a 73 kW, 70 Nm unit at 28000 rpm. TORQUE 5 takes a 32 kW, 68 Nm unit at 24000 rpm or a 31 kW, 100 Nm unit at 15000 rpm.

04 Does the machine need a special foundation?

CMS describes the monobloc machine as having an integrated table with 10000 kg/m2 load capacity, supported by dedicated levelling devices, and states that there is no need for heavy-duty foundations. The machine weighs 32,000 kg (70,547 lb).
