Overview

Keeping a five-axis head accurate over years of work is a maintenance question as much as a design one, and the Vision Wide GSF-5032 comes with part of the answer built in. X travel is 5,000 mm (196.9 in), Y travel 3,200 mm (126.0 in), and the table 5,000 x 3,200 mm (196.9 x 126.0 in).

Three items on the accessory lists bear on it. As standard, the 2-axis head has rotation error mechanism chain correction, meaning the errors of its rotary chain are mapped and compensated. As standard again, the linear axes are measured by scales: dual on X, single on Y and Z. And as an option, automatic correction software of rotary axis error lets the shop re-measure the head's kinematics when needed, after a collision or a change of season.

That last option is worth its place on any machine expected to hold the stated TCPM accuracy of 0.04mm over time. A head that was correct at installation drifts, and without a way to re-calibrate, the shop depends on a service visit.

The head's temperatures and cutting load are monitored by a standard protection system. Spindle power is 50/65 kW (67.1/87.2 hp) at 15,000 rpm. Rapids are 32 m/min in X and Y, and table load is 3,000 kg/m2.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How is five-axis accuracy maintained on the Vision Wide GSF-5032?

2-axis head rotation error mechanism chain correction is standard, and automatic correction software of rotary axis error is optional. Vision Wide states a TCPM accuracy of 0.04mm.

02 What feedback do the linear axes of the GSF-5032 have?

X axis dual linear scale and Y/Z-axis linear scale, both on the standard accessory list. X and Z are driven by dual ballscrews.

03 What are the GSF-5032 travels and table?

5,000 mm (196.9 in) in X, 3,200 mm (126.0 in) in Y, 1,000/1,200 mm (39.4/47.2 in) in Z. The table is 5,000 x 3,200 mm (196.9 x 126.0 in).

04 Is the GSF-5032 head monitored?

Yes. The standard 2-axis head central monitoring protection system covers spindle and motor temperature, B/C-axis motor temperature and spindle cutting load software protection.
