Price estimate
We do not have a price for the CHMER AW3L that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The CHMER AW3L is the fine-wire entry of the AMStech AW series of linear motor wire EDMs. Travels are 370 x 270 mm (14.6 x 10.6 in) in X and Y and 260 mm (10.2 in) in Z, and the table column is headed AW3L (Drop door).
Two rows separate it from the other AW machines. The wire range starts at 0.1 mm (0.004 in), with 0.2 mm (0.008 in) as the standard size, and wire tension goes down to 200 gf. Thin wire at low tension is what small inside radii and narrow slots call for, so this is the AW model for connector, lead-frame and micro-die work. The AW5L runs the same 0.1 mm minimum but is set up around 0.25 mm wire.
X and Y are linear motor axes with a maximum feed rate of 1,500 mm/min (59.1 ipm). Despite the short travels, the taper rating is generous: ± 21° / 110 mm on 100 x 100 mm (3.9 x 3.9 in) of U and V travel. Workpieces up to 750 x 550 x 260 mm and 500 kg (1,102 lb) are accepted.
For a machine with this envelope it is heavy. CHMER lists the weight as 4,600 kg + 280 kg, on a footprint of 2,350 x 2,640 mm (92.5 x 103.9 in), with 700 L (185 gal) of water capacity. No accessory list is published on the model page.
