How much does the CHMER AW6L cost?

Price estimate

Uncertain

We do not have a price for the CHMER AW6L that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.

CHMER AW6L — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the CHMER AW6L that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from CHMER or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

At 650 x 450 mm (25.6 x 17.7 in) of X and Y travel, the CHMER AW6L is the largest of the three AMStech AW wire EDMs whose table columns are marked Drop door. Z travel is 300 mm (11.8 in) and, unlike on the AW5L, the listed workpiece height uses all of it: 1,050 x 750 x 300 mm (41.3 x 29.5 x 11.8 in).

Load capacity is 800 kg (1,764 lb). That is a modest figure next to the 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) of the AW8L, the next model up, which tells you where the series divides. The AW6L and its smaller siblings are toolroom machines; the AW8L and above are built for mould bases.

The X and Y axes are linear motor driven. CHMER labels the speed row here as maximum X, Y rapid traverse and gives 1,500 mm/min (59.1 ipm). Wire from 0.1 mm to 0.3 mm can be used, 0.25 mm being standard, at 200-2,500 gf of tension. Taper is rated ± 21° / 140 mm on 120 x 120 mm (4.7 x 4.7 in) U and V axes.

The machine occupies 2,920 x 2,995 x 2,110 mm (115.0 x 117.9 x 83.1 in). Weight is given as 5,400 kg + 350 kg, and water capacity as 350 L (92 gal). As with the rest of the AW series, the model page publishes no list of standard or optional accessories.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 650 x 450 x 300 mm (25.6 x 17.7 x 11.8 in) travels with linear motors on X and Y
  • Full 300 mm (11.8 in) workpiece height in a 1,050 x 750 mm (41.3 x 29.5 in) work area
  • Fine-wire capable: 0.1-0.3 mm (0.004-0.012 in) at 200-2,500 gf
  • ± 21° / 140 mm taper rating
  • 800 kg (1,764 lb) workpiece limit

Limitations

  • 800 kg (1,764 lb) load is far below the 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) of the AW8L
  • Rapid traverse of 1,500 mm/min (59.1 ipm) across 650 mm of X
  • Accessory lists are not published for this model

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the work envelope of the AW6L?

X 650 mm (25.6 in), Y 450 mm (17.7 in) and Z 300 mm (11.8 in), with U and V travel of 120 x 120 mm (4.7 x 4.7 in). The maximum workpiece is 1,050 x 750 x 300 mm (41.3 x 29.5 x 11.8 in) at up to 800 kg (1,764 lb).

02 When should I pick the AW8L over the AW6L?

When the part is heavy or larger than 650 x 450 mm. The AW8L has 800 x 500 mm of travel and carries 3,000 kg (6,614 lb); the AW6L carries 800 kg (1,764 lb). The AW6L is the one with the 0.1 mm minimum wire: the AW8L's range starts at 0.2 mm.

03 How fast is the AW6L?

The maximum X, Y rapid traverse is 1,500 mm/min (59.1 ipm), on linear motor axes. Maximum wire feed rate is 300 mm/sec (11.8 in/sec).

04 What does the AW6L weigh and how much water does it hold?

Machine weight is listed as 5,400 kg + 350 kg (11,905 lb + 772 lb) and water capacity as 350 L (92 gal). Outside dimensions are 2,920 x 2,995 x 2,110 mm (115.0 x 117.9 x 83.1 in).
