Overview

The Campbell Grinder 800A750 is a CNC creep feed grinder with a 750 x 450 mm (29.5 x 17.7 in) table, 500 mm (19.7 in) of part height and a spindle that runs from 0 to 5,000 RPM. It is the smaller of the two 800 series models with the faster spindle.

The higher speed range is the practical difference from the 800A400 and the 800A600, both of which stop at 3,600 RPM. Surface speed is what a superabrasive wheel needs, and a faster spindle reaches it with a smaller wheel, which helps where a form has to reach into a tight feature. The grinding spindle is motorized and liquid cooled, and Campbell will supply it with up to 100 HP (74.6 kW) as an option.

A table of this size is often used for more than one fixture. Campbell names indexing table part loading as one of the common creep feed options the configuration accepts easily, so that one fixture is loaded while the part on the other is ground. Hydraulic clamping is fed through the table as standard, and a tool and nozzle changer can swap wheel and coolant nozzle together.

The structure is the series standard: a traveling column, a large box section frame, precision roller ways on all axes and a full machine enclosure. X, Y and Z are each accurate to 5 microns (0.0002 in), and the control is a FANUC CNC.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Spindle speed range of 0 - 5,000 RPM
  • 750 x 450 mm (29.5 x 17.7 in) table, large enough for two-station fixtures
  • Configuration accepts indexing table part loading
  • Optional spindle power up to 100 HP (74.6 kW)

Limitations

  • Part height stays at 500 mm (19.7 in), the same as on the smaller 800A600
  • The indexing table, the tool and nozzle changer and probing are options
  • The catalogue table gives no axis travels, so the stroke over the table must be confirmed

Best For

Creep feed grinding with smaller, faster superabrasive wheels Production cells that load one fixture while another is being ground Parts and fixtures that fill a 750 x 450 mm table

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How fast is the spindle of the 800A750?

The table gives a range of 0 - 5,000 RPM. That is higher than the 0 - 3,600 RPM listed for the 800A400 and the 800A600. Campbell offers various RPM options and spindle power up to 100 HP (74.6 kW), so the final spindle is chosen with the application.

02 What fixtures fit the 800A750?

The table measures 750 x 450 mm (29.5 x 17.7 in) and the part height is 500 mm (19.7 in). Through-the-table hydraulics are standard for clamping. Campbell lists indexing table part loading among the options the configuration accepts easily.

03 What structure does the 800A750 use?

A traveling column with a Y axis ram on the Z axis and a stationary workpiece. The standard feature list names a large box section frame, precision roller ways on all axes, direct scale feedback and a full machine enclosure. X, Y and Z are each specified at 5 microns (0.0002 in).

04 Is the 800A750 available with more power?

Yes. The option list includes spindle power up to 100 HP (74.6 kW) and various RPM options. The catalogue table states only the 0 - 5,000 RPM speed range and no standard power, so ask Campbell for the spindle that matches your wheel and material.
