Overview
The Campbell Grinder 800A1000 is the largest 800 series CNC creep feed grinder, with a table of 1,000 x 600 mm (39.4 x 23.6 in). Part height is 500 mm (19.7 in), the spindle speed range is 0 - 5,000 RPM and the axes are X, Y and Z.
The table is the reason to choose it. At 1,000 x 600 mm it holds long parts, gang fixtures or a row of smaller fixtures, where the 800A750 offers 750 x 450 mm (29.5 x 17.7 in). Part height does not grow with it, so tall work is no better served than on the smaller models.
Campbell's option list turns the grinder into something closer to a machining cell. Milling and drilling can be added, with coolant through the tool, and a tool and nozzle changer brings the tools in. Part probing and tool probing measure the work and the wheel on the machine. A mist collector and, for oil coolant, a fire suppression system round off the enclosure.
The base machine is a traveling column design with a motorized, liquid cooled grinding spindle, precision roller ways and scale feedback on all axes. Each linear axis is specified at 5 microns (0.0002 in). Spindle power up to 100 HP (74.6 kW) is available, and the control is a FANUC CNC.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Largest table of the series at 1,000 x 600 mm (39.4 x 23.6 in)
- 0 - 5,000 RPM spindle speed range
- Milling and drilling can be added to grinding, with coolant through the tool
- Part probing and tool probing are available on the machine
Limitations
- Part height is 500 mm (19.7 in), no more than on the 800A600 or the 800A750
- Milling, drilling, probing and the tool changer are all options
- Oil coolant calls for the optional fire suppression system

Frequently Asked Questions
01
It measures 1,000 x 600 mm (39.4 x 23.6 in), the largest in the 800 series. Part height is 500 mm (19.7 in). The next size down, the 800A750, has a 750 x 450 mm (29.5 x 17.7 in) table and the same part height.
02
Milling and drilling are listed as an option, together with coolant through the tool and a tool and nozzle changer. With those fitted the machine can grind and machine a part in one clamping. The standard machine is a three-axis grinder.
03
Part probing and tool probing are both on the option list, along with a gap eliminator and a wheel balance system. Each of the X, Y and Z axes has direct feedback from a scale and an accuracy of 5 microns (0.0002 in).
04
Campbell lists spindle power up to 100 HP (74.6 kW) and various RPM options. The table itself gives the speed range, 0 - 5,000 RPM, but no standard power. The grinding spindle is motorized and liquid cooled.
