Overview
The Campbell Grinder 930E250 is the smallest of the 930 series, a 5-axis CNC vertical creep feed grinder with a 250 mm (9.8 in) table and 250 mm (9.8 in) of part height. Its axes are X, Y, Z, B and C under a Fanuc 31i control that contours with up to 5 axes at once.
Five axes change what a creep feed grinder can reach. The C axis is the rotary table under the part and the B axis swivels the grinding spindle, so the wheel can be presented square to a surface that is neither flat nor parallel to the table. Campbell lists tool center point control among the standard features, which lets the program describe the wheel contact point while the control works out the axis motions.
The series is the 5-axis relative of Campbell's traveling column vertical grinders. X, Y and Z are driven by linear motors, run on precision roller ways and are each accurate to 5 microns (0.0002 in); the two rotary axes are accurate to 10 arc seconds. The grinding spindle is a liquid cooled motorized unit listed at up to 60 HP (44.7 kW).
A 250 mm work cube is small, and that is the point of this size: compact, high-value parts that need many angles. For anything larger the same design is offered as the 930E500, with a 500 mm (19.7 in) table.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The table is 250 mm (9.8 in) and the part height 250 mm (9.8 in). The 930 series continues with the 930E500 at 500 mm (19.7 in), so this is the model for the smallest parts.
02
X, Y and Z are linear and are driven by linear motors. C is the table spindle that rotates the part, and B is the spindle swivel that tilts the grinding wheel. The Fanuc 31i control can move up to 5 axes in simultaneous contouring.
03
The X, Y and Z axes are each specified at 5 microns (0.0002 in). The C axis table spindle and the B axis spindle swivel are each specified at 10 arc seconds. Linear glass scales on all axes are part of the standard feature list.
04
A direct drive, liquid cooled motorized grinding spindle, listed at up to 60 HP (44.7 kW) for this size. Spindle power up to 100 HP and various RPM options appear in the option list of the series.
