Baykal BLT 8220 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Baykal BLT 8220 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Baykal or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Mill-length tube is the reason to choose the Baykal BLT 8220. It is the long version of Baykal's tube laser, with a maximum tube length of 8,100 mm (318.9 in); the BLT 6220 stops at 6,100 mm (240.2 in). Nothing else in the table changes between the two.

That has a consequence worth understanding before ordering. Maximum part length is still 4,000 mm (157.5 in), so the extra bed length does not let you make longer parts. It lets you feed longer bars, which means fewer bar changes per shift and fewer remnants, since the last part of every bar can be cut down to 60 mm (2.4 in).

Capacity is Ø16 mm (0.6 in) to Ø220 mm (8.7 in) in round tube and 16x16 mm to 220x220 mm in square, in wall thicknesses from 0.8 mm (0.03 in). A bar may weigh up to 240 kg (529 lb), and on an 8,100 mm bar that weight limit is reached sooner than on a short one, so heavy-wall sections should be checked against it. The source is 1 kW to 4 kW from IPG, nLIGHT or Max Photonics, with a Precitec LightCutter 3D head.

Motion figures are 90 m/min rapid and 130 m/min vector speed for the linear axes, and 560°/s for the driver chuck. Accuracy is ± 0.01 mm positioning and ± 0.02 mm repeatability on X and Y. Automatic loading, automatic unloading, bevel cutting and fume extraction are all extras. The control is a Beckhoff CNC with an 18.5" display.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Takes tube up to 8,100 mm (318.9 in), against 6,100 mm (240.2 in) on the BLT 6220
  • Remnant as short as 60 mm (2.4 in) on each bar
  • ± 0.01 mm absolute positioning accuracy
  • Precitec LightCutter 3D head with optional bevel cutting
  • 1 kW to 4 kW sources from IPG, nLIGHT or Max Photonics

Limitations

  • Maximum part length stays at 4,000 mm (157.5 in) despite the longer bed
  • The 240 kg (529 lb) tube weight limit is unchanged from the shorter machine
  • Loading and unloading automation is optional
  • Diameter capacity ends at Ø220 mm (8.7 in)

Best For

Shops buying tube in lengths up to 8,100 mm (318.9 in) Long production runs where fewer bar changes matter Furniture, frame and structural tube parts up to 4,000 mm (157.5 in) Mixed round, square and open-section work

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How long a tube can the BLT 8220 load?

Up to 8,100 mm (318.9 in). That is the only row of Baykal's BLT table in which it differs from the BLT 6220, whose limit is 6,100 mm (240.2 in). Baykal's product page describes the series as handling profiles of up to 8 meters.

02 Can the BLT 8220 produce parts longer than 4 m?

No. The maximum part length in the table is 4,000 mm (157.5 in) for both bed lengths. The longer bed is for longer raw bars, not longer finished parts, so check the unloading side if your parts approach that limit.

03 What accuracy and speed does the BLT 8220 offer?

Absolute positioning accuracy is ± 0.01 mm and repeatability on X and Y is ± 0.02 mm. Rapid speed is 90 m/min, vector speed 130 m/min, and the programmable feed rate is up to 50 m/min, with the actual rate depending on material and thickness.

04 What wall thickness can the BLT 8220 cut?

The minimum material thickness is 0.8 mm (0.03 in). The capacity table gives mild steel at 12 mm (0.47 in) with 1 kW, 16 mm (0.63 in) with 2 kW and 22 mm (0.87 in) with 4 kW, and stainless at 12 mm (0.47 in) with 4 kW.
