How much does the AWEA VP-2016 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA VP-2016 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Width is the point of the AWEA VP-2016. It takes the 2,000 mm (78.7 in) X travel of the VP-2012 and puts it under a wider bridge: 1,800 mm (70.9 in) between columns, 1,600 mm (63.0 in) of Y travel and a table of 2,000 x 1,500 mm (78.7 x 59.1 in).
More changes with the wider frame than the Y stroke. The table rating rises to 5,000 kg (11,023 lb). The gear spindle still tops out at 6,000 rpm on BT50, but its motor is 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp), double the continuous rating fitted to the VP-2012. And the hydraulic unit grows from a small tank to 120 liter with a 7.5 HP pump. Z travel is the series' 760 mm (29.9 in).
None of this slows the axes. X and Y rapid at 24 m/min (945 ipm), Z at 20 m/min (787 ipm), with 12 m/min (472 ipm) of cutting feed. Positioning accuracy is 0.012 mm in X as well as in Y and Z.
A table nearly as deep as it is long suits square work: mold halves, large die shoes, housings that would overhang the 1,100 mm wide table of the VP-2012. The machine weighs 20,000 kg (44,092 lb). Where a heavier part of this shape has to be carried, AWEA's SP-2016 is rated for 8,000 kg (17,637 lb) on a 2,310 x 1,500 mm (90.9 x 59.1 in) table.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,600 mm (63.0 in) of Y travel and 1,800 mm (70.9 in) between columns
- 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) gear spindle motor, against 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) on the VP-2012
- 2,000 x 1,500 mm (78.7 x 59.1 in) table carrying 5,000 kg (11,023 lb)
- Full 24 m/min (945 ipm) rapid on both X and Y
- X positioning accuracy of 0.012 mm with repeatability of 0.008 mm
Limitations
- Top speed is 6,000 rpm; no direct drive spindle appears in this model's column
- Table load of 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) is well short of the 8,000 kg (17,637 lb) SP-2016
- Z travel is 760 mm (29.9 in), no more than on the narrow VP models
- Weighs 20,000 kg (44,092 lb), against 16,000 kg (35,273 lb) for the VP-2012

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Y travel goes from 1,200 mm (47.2 in) on the VP-2012 to 1,600 mm (63.0 in), the table from 1,100 mm to 1,500 mm in width, and table load from 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) to 5,000 kg (11,023 lb). Spindle power rises from the 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) of the VP-2012 to 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp). X travel and the axis rapids are the same.
02
The distance between columns is 1,800 mm (70.9 in). The table is 1,500 mm wide and the Y stroke is 1,600 mm (63.0 in), so the spindle can travel past both table edges.
03
The SP-2016 has 2,100 mm (82.7 in) of X, an 8,000 kg (17,637 lb) table and 1,700 mm (66.9 in) between columns, at a weight of 19,000 kg (41,887 lb). The VP-2016 offers 1,800 mm (70.9 in) between columns and a 24 m/min (945 ipm) X rapid, where the SP-2016 is listed at 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm). Both use a 6,000 rpm spindle with 22 / 26 kW.
04
AWEA's table lists a 120 liter tank with a 7.5 HP pump for the two 1,600 mm Y models, and 8 liter with 2 HP for the VP-2012. The page does not explain the difference. For installation it means more oil to fill and a larger motor to supply, though the stated power requirement is 40 kVA in both cases.
05
Yes, one. The VP-3016 has 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X on the same 1,600 mm Y frame, with a 7,000 kg (15,432 lb) table and a 20 m/min (787 ipm) X rapid.
