Overview
The Reiden RX12 is a 5-axis machining center with 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of X and 1,450 mm (57.1 in) of Y that can also turn. With the spindle clamped and the optional rotary table fitted, the workpiece itself becomes the turning axis: the table lists a Ø 1,200 mm (47.2 in) turning rotary table running at 400 rpm with a maximum torque of 4,570 Nm (3,371 lb-ft). Reiden's point is that the part no longer has to change machines between milling and turning. The model was launched in 2016.
Two motor spindles are listed. The HSK100 spindle is rated 84 kW (112.6 hp) and 0 - 12,000 rpm, with 300 / 452 Nm at 100 / 40 % ED. The HSK63 spindle is rated 45 kW (60.3 hp) and 0 - 20,000 rpm, the same power and speed as the single spindle of the RX10. The choice is between torque for steel and large cutters and speed for small tools, and the magazine follows the taper: 75 / 150 / 225 / 325 places for HSK63, or 65 / 103 / 147 / 191 / 272 for HSK100. Tool length is 600 mm (23.6 in) either way.
Some rows need a question to Reiden. Z travel is printed as 1,000 (1300) mm with no word on the bracketed figure, so plan on 1,000 mm until Reiden says what the 1,300 refers to. Maximum rotary diameter is given as 1,500 / 1,600 / 1,200 mm, again without naming the table or pallet arrangement each figure belongs to. The head swivels automatically between horizontal and vertical as standard (A axis 0+/-90°) and the table turns 360° in C.
Column and bed are made of HYDROPOL, which Reiden describes as a composite of special concrete and steel with excellent damping behavior and high dynamic rigidity. Pallets measure Ø 1,200 x 1,000 mm and carry 2,000 kg (4,409 lb), in changers for 2 or 5 pallets or with linear or circular storage. Machine weight is given as a range, 25,000 - 28,000 kg, and the machine stands 4,050 mm high. Control is a Heidenhain TNC7 or a Siemens Sinumerik One.

Reiden's table prints the Z axis as 1,000 (1300) mm and gives no explanation for the figure in brackets. It may be an extended version, but the page doesn't say so. Plan fixtures and part height around 1,000 mm (39.4 in) and ask Reiden what the second figure refers to.

The RX12 is larger in every linear axis: 1,300 mm of X and 1,450 mm of Y against 1,000 mm and 1,100 mm on the RX10. It adds the 84 kW HSK100 spindle and the turning rotary table, neither of which appears in the RX10 table. Pallet load is 2,000 kg against 1,600 kg on the RX10, and the RX12 weighs 25,000 - 28,000 kg where the RX10 weighs 18,200 kg.
