Overview
The DN Solutions DCM 3250 U steps up to the wider DCM 32xx series, offering 5,100 x 2,700 x 1,000 mm of X/Y/Z travel with 1,100 mm of W-axis crossrail movement. The wider Y-axis (2,700 mm vs 3,200 mm column spacing, resulting in a 2,700 mm table width) accommodates broader workpieces than the DCM 27xx series. The table supports 33,000 kg (72,753 lb).
The 500 mm increase in table width compared to the DCM 27xx family changes which parts fit on the machine. Wide automotive underbody dies, large injection mold halves, and broad aerospace panels that crowded the 2,200 mm table of the 27xx series now clamp comfortably with margin to spare.
The spindle delivers the DCM family standard: 15,000 RPM, 46 kW (61.7 hp), 146 Nm through an HSK-A100 taper. The universal head provides 5-axis positioning, and auto-change head attachments swap between high-precision and high-speed configurations. DSQ I/II/III functions optimize die/mold surface quality through feed rate and path smoothing.
Rapid traverse matches the DCM 27xx at 16/20/15/3 m/min on X/Y/Z/W. The 40-tool magazine is standard. U-head cooling maintains thermal stability.
At 87,000 kg (191,802 lb), the DCM 3250 U is significantly heavier than the comparable-length DCM 2750 U (73,000 kg), reflecting the wider column spacing and broader bed. The footprint runs 13,375 x 8,230 x 7,700 mm — about 500 mm wider than the 27xx series.
This machine occupies the middle ground in the DCM 32xx range, offering enough X-travel for 5-meter parts with the wider Y-axis envelope. It's the right size for shops that have outgrown the DCM 27xx's table width but don't need the extreme X-travel of the 3260 or 3280 models.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 2,700 mm table width accommodates broader workpieces than the DCM 27xx series (2,200 mm)
- 33,000 kg table capacity handles heavy wide die blocks and castings
- W-axis provides 1,100 mm of crossrail travel for deep cavity access on tall parts
- 87,000 kg machine mass ensures outstanding vibration damping and cutting stability
- DSQ I/II/III functions optimize surface finish on complex die/mold surfaces
- Auto-change head attachments cover the full range of machining operations
Limitations
- 87,000 kg weight is nearly 20% heavier than the comparable DCM 2750 U — bigger foundation needed
- 40-tool magazine may be insufficient for complex multi-tool programs on wide parts
- Price starting at $2M is a major investment even for established die/mold operations
- 8,230 mm machine width exceeds many shop aisle widths

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The DCM 3250 U provides 500 mm more table width (2,700 vs 2,200 mm). It also has a slightly different Y-travel at 2,700 mm vs 3,200 mm, and a higher table capacity of 33,000 vs 30,000 kg. X-travel is slightly less at 5,100 vs 5,250 mm. The key decision factor is table width — if your parts are wider than 2,200 mm, you need the 32xx series.
02
The wider column spacing requires a broader bed, heavier crossrail, and more material in the supporting structure. Going from 2,200 to 2,700 mm of table width increases machine mass by 14,000 kg (87,000 vs 73,000 kg). That extra mass isn't wasted — it contributes to better vibration damping and thermal stability across the wider envelope.
03
Yes. The universal head supports full simultaneous 5-axis machining. X/Y/Z plus two rotary axes in the head interpolate simultaneously for complex contouring. The W-axis is typically used for positioning only, not simultaneous interpolation.

DN Solutions typically offers Fanuc and Siemens controllers on the DCM series. Availability varies by region. Contact your local DN Solutions distributor for current options. Both Fanuc 31i-B Plus and Siemens 840D sl are well-proven on machines of this class.
